I just got back from Safeway and wanted to share a few deals I found. The great part is many of these you don't need coupons for – they're just great prices! (Of course, if you have coupons on top of these sales, you're going to get an even better deal!)
- Ragu pasta sauce – $.99/ea. My store had LOTS of varieties, including the light alfredo one which I personally love to mix in with a traditional red. They had these stocked on the pasta aisle and also on an end display. There did not appear to be a limit, so stock up as you're able. These retail for $2.89, so you save 65%! I only had one $.50 off 2 coupon, but I still purchased 10.

Ronzoni pasta – $.75/ea with in-store coupon. These are marked as 4 for $5 ($1.25/ea) on the shelf, but note you do NOT have to purchase 4. (Of course, I'm sure Safeway would love it if you did!) My store had what's known in the couponing world as a "blinkie" machine right in front of these pastas. Basically, it's a little black box with flashing red lights and you yank the coupon on out. The coupons saved me an extra $.50/1, so I paid $0.75 apiece.

64-oz Safeway brand apple juice – $.99/ea. While I didn't need this item, I thought it was worth sharing. There is a limit of 4.

Ken's Salad Dressing – $.50/ea after coupon. On sale for $1.50 each, and I had two $1 off 1 coupons from the 1/11/09 SmartSource coupon insert.

Ground beef $1.49/lb – 80%/20%. I got to the store late and all the ones packaged at this price were gone so I asked the clerk and she was able to give me the sale price on the ones packaged at $1.99/lb. The lesson? Don't just assume you're out of luck; ask! (And be nice about it, too!)
