So one of my goals is to be transparent with exactly how much I'm saving and spending. I know many people question if coupons really make that much of a difference, and trust me, not too long ago I was one of them.
I just tallied my receipts from the month of February and thought I'd share with you how I did. Please note that these totals include groceries, paper products, household products cleaners, baby supplies, and health/beauty items for a family of four (two adults, a toddler, and a baby).
Total Shelf Cost: $978.35
What I Paid: $317.89
Rebates: $52.60
Total Saved: $730.07, or 71% (factors in rebates owed)
Bottom Line: $265.29 (about $66 a week)
Of the amount I saved, a little over $300 was by using coupons (the rest was from rebates and store sales). Think about that – in one month, clipping coupons shaved $300 off my food bill! And paying a little attention to store circulars and rebates knocked off another $400! Wow.
My personal goal is to get to $200 or less per month by the end of this year. As my stockpile has grown, I have most certainly noticed our food costs dropping each month. While I still have a ways to go, I am thrilled with the results. Notice that not only did I not spend a lot of money, I got almost $1,000 worth of stuff!
If you've decided to start couponing, I highly recommend you set a goal to work towards and track your success. It's a great motivator! March is a new month…why not join me and see how much we can save together this month? Let's do it!
