My late-night grocery store trip!

June22

Phew!  Maybe it's a little late to be out doing my weekly grocery shop, but hey.  The kids are in bed so I can go solo, plus the store is virtually empty at 10 o'clock.  I didn't have a ton of coupons, but I did have some good ones, and I knew there were some decent sales this week on items I needed.

First, I planned my week's menu.  This includes lunches, breakfasts, snacks.  I consider what I have in my pantry and what's on sale in order to do this.  The goal is to always have meals and snacks on hand to reduce the temptation of wanting to eat out or needing a mid-week shopping trip.  Tonight I ended up going to Fred Meyer and then on to Albertsons.

All told, I spent $40.59 on everything pictured above and saved 52%!  Not the greatest savings rate I'd ever achieved, but considering the amount of meat, produce, and dairy I purchased, I'd say that's pretty darn good!  I'm thinking things are looking good for me to stay under my $300 goal this month for our family's grocery and household needs.

And just in case you can't see everything, here's a quick rundown:

Meat: lean ground turkey breast (free with my coupon!), lean ground beef (15%), Hebrew National Hot Dogs (still on sale at Fred Meyer thru 6/27), 5 packs of Hilshire Farm deli meat ($1 each when you buy 5 at Albertsons thru tomorrow!)
Dairy: eggs, big tub Mountain High yogurt, Kraft Natural shredded Italian cheese (on sale for $2.57 from $4.49 – I didn't have a coupon though…sigh!)
Produce: 1 watermelon, 2 lbs grapes, 3 tomatoes, 3 onions, celery, 1 green pepper, 2 cucumbers
Bread: 1 loaf wheat bread, 1 loaf french bread, 8-ct hot dog buns (still 38 cents at Fred Meyer!)
Dry Goods: jelly, egg noodles
Snacks: 4 packages Nestle drumsticks, 1 box Albertsons popcorn (craving popcorn and it was $1 a box!), Twix candy (free with my coupon)
