What I got at Rite Aid for $3.21 today (that includes $2.43 in tax!)

RiteAid7509

I decided to try one of the Rite Aid scenarios I posted on Friday, but with a couple modifications to fit what I needed.  So here's what I did:

1 Pampers – used the $2-off-1 coupon from the 7/5 P&G (please note that there is a $2 coupon for Cruisers!!  There are also $2 coupons in the P&G Year of Savings if you have it)
1 Pampers wipes – in a small bubble on the ad, it said these were on sale for $1.99.  They were unmarked on the shelf, but rang up at $1.99.  Used the $0.50-off-1 coupon from the 7/5 P&G
1 Venus razor – used the $2-off-1 coupon from the 7/5 P&G
1 Crest Toothpaste – used the $0.75-off-1 from the 7/5 P&G (sheesh, lots of coupons today, right?)
1 St. Ives – used the $1.50-off-1 from the 5/10 SmartSource

Used the $5-off-$25 printable.  Incidentally, the one I print read good from 6/29 – 7/5!  I'm gonna check coupons.com tomorrow and see if it resets with a new expiration date or how that works.

I also had $3.18 sitting on a gift card I'd earned awhile ago.  (I think a Bayer MM from a few months back, actually!)

I paid $13.05 out of pocket, and should be getting $9.84 in rebates = $3.21 total out for me, and $2.43 of that was tax – a savings rate of 88.53% if you include the gift card savings!

After my trip, I realized there were a few things I wanted to point out:

  • Bring your ad and rebate flyers with you on your trip (or pick one up from the front).  A couple of the items at my store today were not even marked with sale or rebate tags.  ALWAYS refer to the flyers!  I've also seen incorrect items flagged before.
  • Watch the items and prices CAREFULLY.  As an example, there is a $1 rebate on virtually all the St. Ives products…but only select are on sale for $3.99 this week.  Obviously, $1 off a $3.99 product is quite different than off a $5.99 product.  I've made this mistake before and ended up having to return an item.  Try to avoid this if possible!
  • I also wanted to point out the Pampers wipes.  $1.99 is a decent sale price – especially when paired with the $0.50-off-1 coupon that was issued today.  This would make a great filler item if you're looking for something cheap and practical to use your $5-off-$25 printable with!
  • Enter those receipts ASAP.  Don't lose or forget about your receipts.  I make sure to enter mine as soon as I'm able.
