Guest Post up at Steals and Deals on Register Rewards

I recently had the honor of putting together a post for Steals and Deals. I was asked to delve into how Walgreens Register Rewards work.

If you have seen me or other bloggers talk about them, and would like a "Register Rewards 101 of sorts" – go read what I've written! If you have any questions, let me know. These can be tricky little things, and I'll do my best to help you make sense of them.

Incidentally, I've gotten some mixed feedback from readers lately about Register Rewards. What about YOU? Do you love 'em? Hate 'em? Wish we could just go back to the simple days of the Easy Saver Rebate? Curious to know what my readers' experience has been.

Thanks for the information. I like RR’s, but they are also VERY time consuming to plan your trip to make your oop slightly more than the RR’s you have and to make sure you have the right item to coupon ratio….
I do have a question though…let’s say I bought the halls and received the $1RR, then later in the week I bought halls again and received another $1 RR. If after I go to purchase two more DIFFERENT items, can I use BOTH halls RR to pay, or will it beep since the RR are in theory the same coupon? I always split them up cause I don’t want to cause problems at the register, but don’t know if I have too…afterall I was buying filler items for the walgreens coupons as well, cause I thought they counted in your coupon to item ratio…thanks for clearing that up for me!!!

Stephanie, you should be fine using both $1 RR in a transaction so long as you have at least two items (more if you have additional coupons). To give you an example, yesterday I purchased a number of items at Walgreens and I used a total of four Register Rewards – two of which were from Unilever (Vaseline and the Skippy/Ragu deal). Using two RR from the same issuer didn’t cause problems for me. The key is to just make sure you aren’t using your RR on the same item. For instance, you couldn’t use the $1 RR from the Halls to buy another Halls.

Have I cleared things up for you?

Just so you know, I personally HATE doing multiple transactions and do whatever I can to minimize them. That’s just me.
