Free 2009 TurboTax software!

Right now, TurboTax is offering a free online version of its 2009 federal tax filing software! I've used TurboTax for at least the past five years and it's a very simple, "walk-you-through" approach. PLUS, you can file your taxes for free using their e-filing service! Optional state filing software runs $27.95.

If you have more complex tax needs, you'll be glad to know Intuit has cut the prices of the more robust TurboTax software too. The version I use – Home & Office – is just $48.70. I've paid closer to $75 – 80 in year's past. Go here to see what's available.

Dealnews reports that these are the best discounts to-date offered by TurboTax for the 2009 tax season.

I also always choose the Direct Deposit option for filing my taxes and in recent years, I've gotten my money safely into my checking account within two weeks.
