My rockin’ trip at Albertsons today: 94% savings rate!

Wondering where I've been today? Well, shopping of course.

I had a pretty successful trip today at Albertsons. I did two transactions and then the kids and I headed on to Target where I proceeded to stock up on some $0.99 Finish Powertabs. Here's my loot:

So let me break it down. My first transaction at Albertsons I spent $3.46 and saved $47.78. This scored me a $5 off-your-next-order Catalina coupon which I promptly used to buy the 6 bags of cheese pictured. On the transaction, I spent only $0.88 out of pocket and saved $23.06. Some of this savings was due to a $10 Catalina I had from last week's P&G PromotionAll told at Albies I spent $4.34 and saved $70.54 – a total savings rate of 94%! How crazy is that? Everything you see up there minus the Finish was purchased at Albertsons – including the Sunday Advance paper.

I ended up spending $5.26 on the Finish at Target after coupons and including tax. Yeah, I *could've* gotten this at Walgreens for free but you know what? I made two trips and they were out of stock both times. Even if I found what I needed, it'd involve multiple transactions and possibly multiple trips. So I figure this ONE transaction at Target actually puts me ahead. That's just my approach – take it or leave it.

Incidentally, my friend Devon has been giving me some interesting pointers on digital photography. I really know NOTHING on this topic and am appreciating her advice. Look at this simple idea she gave me to make displaying my Progresso soup more interesting. What do you think?

Great shopping! I had the same problem at Wags in regards to the Finish. I managed to snag 2 early in the week, but by Wednesday two stores I checked were out of stock already!

Kim, one of my stores was out of stock MONDAY. The other store I checked on Thursday after their restock – still out. Fortunately these trips coincided with other things I needed to do, so I didn’t waste too much time or gas checking…

But this is where the “bigger picture” becomes important. If you have to drive to the store (or stores) multiple times and complete multiple transactions…are you really coming out ahead? Hmm. I’ll just pay the $5.26 thank you…

Noelle, LOL! I started this blog because I write. It’s what I do. But a website by it’s very nature is a VISUAL medium. So I’ve decided it’s time to step it up a little. ;) Thanks for your comment!

UGH. I hate how I can’t edit comments. Typo…should read by “its very nature.” I know better. This is what happens when I stay up past my bedtime trying to find everyone deals like free Theraflu and Contac…
