Albertsons deals 2/3 – 2/9

Albies

This is Superbowl week, and consistent with my notes from last year, we've seen a lot of Mexican food items (such as sour cream, salsa, and tortillas) on sale. This is also a great time to watch for deals on canned soda and chips if your family enjoys those snacks.

I'll start with general grocery deals, and then move into a ConAgra deal (think ketchup, Manwich, hot dogs).

Meat Deals

There is a large "buy one, get one free" meat deal going on. I'm breaking down what the per pound costs are after the sale. Some of these are decent sale prices, others are just ho-hum. I've noticed with BOGO sales sometimes the stores will raise the price of the one you must buy to compensate. Tricky, huh? Pay attention.

ConAgra Sale

Spend $20 on the following products, receive a $5 off-your-next-order Catalina coupon at checkout. Remember, you can mix & match any way you wish, just make sure your total is $20 or slightly over to trigger your $5 Catalina coupon. The $20 is before coupons (at least, this is the way it's always been for any other such promotion!).

There was recently a ConAgra coupon booklet made available. Did you receive this? I requested mine, but haven't gotten it yet. Here's hoping it comes this week! Some of the coupons I've included are supposedly found in this booklet.

Participating Items (in order of cost):
Van Camps Pork 'n Beans $0.79 ($1/4 ConAgra mailer coupon)
Ro-Tel Diced Tomatoes, $0.99 ($1/3 ConAgra mailer; or $0.30/1 coupon from 1/24 SmartSource – regional?)
Manwich, $1 ($1/2 ConAgra mailer; $0.50/3 coupon from 1/10 SmartSource)
Act II Popcorn, $1
David's Sunflower Seeds, $1
Crunch 'n Munch, $1 ($0.50/1 coupon from 1/10 SmartSource)
Hunt's Ketchup, $1
Hunt's Spaghetti Sauce, $1 ($0.45/3 coupon from 1/10 SmartSource)
Banquet Brown 'n Serve Sausage, $1.25
Gulden's Mustard, $1.39
Dixie Plates, Bowls, Cups, $2.49
Pam Cooking Spray, $2.50 ($0.35/1 coupon from 1/24 SmartSource – some areas may have gotten $1/2 version)
Hebrew National Beef Franks, $2.99 ($1/1 printable coupon)
Alexia Crunchy Snacks, buy one at $2.99, get one free*
Snapple Tea or Fruit Drink, $4.99
Sparkle Paper Towels, $5.49
Brawny Paper Towels, $5.99 ($1/1 coupon from 1/24 Red Plum)

* I am uncertain if the "free" item value of $2.99 counts towards your $20. Anyone brave enough to try?

Also, I found this rebate. It says, spend $10 or more on participating ConAgra products, get a coupon booklet by mail with $25 in savings. I'm not sure if this is the same coupon booklet that's been floating around, but it doesn't hurt to submit this, don't you think?

My Potential ConAgra Shopping Trip

I'm still undecided if I will participate in this deal or not. Here is my thought on what I *might* do with this sale to give you an idea of how these promotions work.

Buy (2) Hebrew National Franks: $5.98
Buy (9) Hunt's Spaghetti Sauce: $9
Buy (6) Hunt's Ketchup: $6
Subtotal: $20.98

Use the following coupons:
(2) $1/1 Hebrew National printables
(3) $0.45/3 Spaghetti sauce
Pay at the register: $17.63

Receive $5 Catalina coupon

Bottom line: $12.63 for everything! (While this isn't the lowest price known to man, I'd consider this to be a pretty decent price for basics such as ketchup and spaghetti sauce!)

I didn’t know you could freeze flour tortillas. Do you just leave them in the orginal bag? I would think they would get dried out or all stick together. Thanks for all your great tips!

Brenda– Tortillas WILL dry out in the freezer if they are in there long enough. My mother froze them all the time when I was a kid and because of this I cna’t bring myself to do it. They have a long shelf life though, so you can get away with keeping them in the cupboard for a while.

Liz–I know several ladies in the coupon world freeze several dairy products, but I personally don’t recommend it.

Best bet for both ladies is to make some freezer meals incorporating the dairy/tortillas and bake as needed. You won’t notice any difference then.

BTW, I got the ConAgra book today. Not that great. They all say DND as well.

Ang, this could be a silly question, but is that a good price for sirloin? I’m making the sesame soy sirloin for next month’s freezer meals. I hardly EVER buy beef, so I just don’t know. I need to buy 20 lbs!
