I love the email I got from reader (and friend!) Laura this week.
She writes: “I get much better “stuff” for FREE than I ever did before.” Anyone else surprised by this as they’ve started couponing? She continues: “I used to buy the cheap moisturizers at WalMart. Now I get the awesome Olay products for FREE! I am living better in many respects because of couponing!” This is the amazing win-win situation you’ll find yourself in as you begin to coupon. Not only will your grocery bill go down, in many cases you’ll end up with better items than ever before. Perhaps even some “splurge” items such as the Olay that was on sale at Rite Aid this week.
Here’s Laura’s drugstore haul (click to see a bigger picture):
At Walgreens, Laura started with a $13.50 in Register Reward from last week’s shopping. After coupons, she spent $10.02 out of pocket. She proceeded to earn $23 in Register Rewards back, though! If you factor in the $13.50 in Register Rewards she started with, Laura came out getting everything for nearly free at Walgreens!
At Rite Aid, Laura made $2.38 after coupons, sales, and rebates. She tells me these items would’ve cost her $68 otherwise.
So basically….EVERYTHING pictured above turned into one big ol’ money maker for Laura! She also mentioned to me that she has a “home” Rite Aid, a store that she’s developed a positive relationship with when she uses her coupons.
Love it, Laura! For this week’s drugstore deals, see my Walgreens and Rite Aid deal posts. For more amazing reader photos and trips, please see my Testimonials section.

Oh this cracks me up! I have to share my mother in law came for a visit one day and opened up my cabinets to say oh Abby can I tell you that you could really save your family a lot more money if you would stop buying all these name brands and start using store or generic brands. I just smiled and said …do you read my blog on a regular basis. She said no , why? Well since I have turned her over to the coupon way of thinking she has changed her tune! I took her shopping at Walgreens the next day she picked up my receipt and said this says you saved $90!!! Yep that’s right it’s actually cheaper to buy name brand!
