Sites you should know about: Food in Jars

It seems I’ve lately come across many wonderful websites related directly or indirectly to frugal living. And I wanted to find some fun way to share them with you. So I’ve decided to once a week (I suppose this being Wednesday, I’ll make it Wednesdays) to highlight a fun, resourceful, and/or engaging site to share with you. (No, I’ve not been coerced or paid to mention or link to these sites. These are genuinely sites I’ve come to enjoy and want to share with you – it’s as simple as that.)

Today I want to share a site I recently discovered thanks to Frugal Living NW. It’s called Food in Jars and if you’re into canning or preserving or just thinking about it (like me), you really, REALLY need to check this site out!

If you think of canned food as boring, you might peruse their recipes for Orange Rhubarb Butter, Grape Catchup, or Asian-Inspired Refrigerator Pickles. The photographs on this blog? Amazing! Tantalizing! If you live in the Philadelphia area, you might be interested to know the blogger (Marisa) teaches canning classes during the summer (although it looks like she’s already booked for this year).

All “Sites You Should Know About” features will be given a special link on my Cool Blogs page (if they aren’t there already). Got an outstanding site or blog you think deserves mentioning? Email me about it at thecouponproject at hotmail dot com for consideration.

Thanks for the grape catchup recipe idea! I can a lot of things, since my husband’s has a TON of food allergies, including tomato products! I’m gonna try the grape catchup, since he’s always on the lookout for alternatives.

Thanks for the site. I might have to try my hand at canning this summer! I am now always on the lookout for ways to avoid the high cost of pre-made, store bought favorites. This summer I hope to go berry picking often, so maybe I’ll start with some jams! Looking through the canning site, there was a recipe for granola, which is another great idea! Thanks again Angela for all of the great sites and help! :)
