If you’ve been following my other blog or follow me on Facebook, you probably noticed I was busy this weekend running 13.1 miles!
Want to know something funny (although it wasn’t terribly funny at the time)? I decided to run with my pedometer, and when I crossed the finish line, it read 14.83 miles! So looks like I got an added bonus. (Not to mention the 2+ miles I spent walking to and from the car and waiting in various lines…)
If you’re at all interested in the marathoning process or just hearing my recap on how the race went, you can read my post over HERE. And if you’re just joining me, you might be interested to know that this is my first long distance race since the birth of my second child a couple years ago. Starting in December, I got serious about my health and fitness again and have dropped nearly 20 pounds. I went from struggling through a 2 mile run to finishing a half marathon yesterday.
I know this blog is all about couponing, but I want you to know that you really CAN turn your life around and make a change if you believe it. I have had the pleasure of watching many of my friends complete both half and full distance marathons…so I’m convinced of how do-able this is and you can’t tell me otherwise! During the race, the back of a girl’s shirt caught my eye. It read “the courage to start and the faith to finish.” That pretty much sums it up!
Now…back to saving money!

Congratulations Angela, that’s awesome! I’m slowly working my way up to a marathon before I’m 30.
Amazing job! This is just what I needed to hear! I live in Alaska and there is a Midnight Sun Run that I want to run next year.
I give you two thumbs up! I’ve been wanting to lose weight from my 2nd child as well and it seems lately nothing seems to help the numbers drop. I’m hoping that your info will encourage me to get more serious!!
Woo hoo Angela! That is AWESOME! I have only done a 5K…and that was hard for me.. How long does it take to run a half marathon, like 2 hours? Congratulations!!!
This one was my slowest. I finished in 2:45. My fastest was 2:10 in 2005.
By the way, I was running only 2-3 miles in December. I only upped my runs in the last 2-3 months to prepare for this race.
Great Job Angela! I am in the beginnings of P90X so if I can complete that I think I want to challenge myself with something like this
Way to go!!! I was among those running and it was my first 1/2 Marathon. I have been following you for quite a long time and just learned that you are a runner as well. Good job and hope to see you at another run in the area!
Congrats, Michelle!
