This week’s shopping trip marathon and budget update

PHEW. I can’t believe I just hit up Albertsons, Winco, Walgreens, and Rite Aid all in the same shopping trip. And with both of my kids in tow. Someone, give me a pat on the back!

Here’s what I ended up with (click the picture for a bigger image):

After coupons and sales, and after you factor in the Register Rewards and rebates I’ve earned, I essentially got everything pictured above for $53.48 $45.49!! Not too shabby considering today’s haul included diapers, 3 razors, shampoo & conditioner, Greek yogurt, produce, 7 boxes of cereal and more. Retail value of all this was $166.19 a savings of 68% 72%.

EDITED: OOPS! I forgot about the Schick rebate I posted early! Looks like my savings is even better than I thought!

See the 40 oz Heinz ketchup? Found those at Winco today for $0.98 each (limit 2). I also did the cheese rebate deal I posted awhile ago.

So here’s how my month is shaping up, budget wise:

As you can see, I’m right on track here…about half spent halfway through the month. I’ve also saved 54% total.

You can download your own free Excel Savings Tracker and follow along with me if you like!

Don’t forget to send me pics of your awesome finds this week! Email them to thecouponproject at hotmail dot com for consideration.

Wow! I don’t know what’s more impressive: your awesome trip or the fact that you managed it all with two kiddos.

Nice job that you managed all your transactions with the two kids!

Angela, I live in Mill Creek and it appears that my local Albertsons (Thomas Lake) no longer gives out and leaves out the Twice the Value coupons by the customer service desk and I was told that they are only available in the Sunday newspaper. I thought this was odd. Also, the other Albertsons (164th ST SW) close by no longer leaves out their Twice the Value coupons on the customer service counter anymore. You have to ask customer service and they will only give one copy per person. Have you heard anything similar from your readers?

I’ve not…but I have heard of different stores handling these coupons in different ways. For instance in my area, I have one store that has decided to accept only one set per day while another has decided to accept three. If I were to wager a guess…there may have been a few couponers taking more than their fair share or trying to get cashiers to take hefty amounts of them during single shopping trips. I don’t post Walmart deals, but it is also my understanding Walmart has started accepting these as competitor coupons. Are there any Walmarts near your Albertsons? It could also be that folks were coming in and taking them to redeem there…which is understandably upsetting to Albertsons since they’re printing these on their dime. These are just a couple ideas of why you might be seeing your store crack down.
