favorite filler item ideas
As a reminder, you must have at least as many items in a given transaction as the number of manufacturer coupons you’re presenting. And it’s important to note that your Register Rewards are treated as manufacturers’ coupons. So if you head to check out with one item, a coupon and a Register Reward, the register won’t accept both. How to remedy this? Simply buy a small “filler item” to balance your transaction. Again…make sure you at least have as many items as manufacturers’ coupons. Store coupons thankfully do NOT count!
Best bets for this week:
Walgreens Soda $0.39 each with in-ad coupon (limit 4)
Hunt’s Tomato Sauce $0.33 each with in-ad coupon (limit 3)
Look for clearance items on an end-cap in cosmetics
Look for small garden-related items (seeds, maybe?)
Look for small food items – I like the instant coffee packets – the Royal Gelatin also works
Looks for single pencils & cheap stationery items
Look for Walgreens water bottles priced at $0.49! My store had these near the diabetic section (towards the pharmacy). They were on a shelf and filled with first aid items. I also recently saw them near checkout.

FYI did you know that contact solution stuff works really great at getting Super Glue off your fingers? I discovered this by accident one day but I always have it next to me when I do use Super Glue to get the residue off my fingers when I am finished with my project now!
I did not know that. I would be interested to hear other uses for this item as I’m a non-contact wearer! I wonder if it would take marker off my kids’ table, too? Or the mysterious goop that’s collected on top of my dryer?
Angela,
I suggest a Mr. Clean sponge to clean the marker & the dryer! I use mine everywhere! And they work wonders! Just a fyi…
Thanks….I have tried just about everything and can’t get it perfectly clean. Rubbing alcohol seemed to work some. It’s one of those IKEA plastic tables.
I find that finger nail polish remover works great on getting out things like marker. My youngest who when she was the age of your kids had a great love of coloring anything that wasn’t nailed down (and some things that were) my poor kitchen hutch has been attacked by my little artist more times than I care to remember!
I swear by Goo-Gone for EVERYTHING!!! In the past week I’ve used it for the following:
1) To remove Rubbermaid brand sticker residue off of some shelving supports
2) To remove what I think was likely engine oil from my foot after a trip to the beach (rubbing sand in it, rinsing in the ocean, a baby wipe – none of these things removed it, it was NASTY!!!)
3) To clean all the fingerprints off the side and handle of our basic refrigerator – it does a great job of getting in the textured finish of the fridge
4) To clean dried latex paint off my hands
5) To clean crayon off of my son’s Ikea furniture and his art easel
Do not be confused with Goof-Off which is a great product but also a harsh chemical and best not used on all these things. Goo Gone is orange oil and some other stuff so it’s safe on your skin and smells nice to boot. I’d buy it by the gallon if I ever saw it that way.
I have got to try the contact solution on superglue trick though – I HATE super glue but use it for crafts quite a bit and regularly end up with it on my fingers and it’s miserable.
