Go to http://www.slickdeals.net and they have a Northwest Grocery stores forum. A couple gals on there are excellent resources for the QFC deals and that is where a lot of us bloggers get our info from.

Nikki – GREAT question!!

A loss leader is an item that a store puts on a deep discount. The idea is to entice you into the store to buy other items. For instance, the store may put a box of cereal that normally sells for $3 on sale for $1. These items are typically advertised on the front of the weekly ad or in another splashy way.

It’s called a “loss leader” because in many cases, the store may actually take a loss on the item to give you such a great price. Again, their hope is they’ll make up for it when you come into their store and buy a few extra items. (But you won’t do that, right?!)

Does that make sense? I should perhaps tackle this in a post at some point.
