Sites you should know about: The Pioneer Woman

Today’s “Sites you should know about” feature is a blog that many, MANY of you have shared with me over the past few months. To the point it’s been annoying. So in order to stop the requests that I feature this site I in fact WILL feature this site today. And it is…The Pioneer Woman.

Ree Drummond (AKA The Pioneer Woman) wasn’t always a country girl. According to her story, she attended college in LA and only moved to the country when she fell in love with and married a cattle rancher. This blog chronicles her “decade-long transition from spoiled city girl to domestic country wife.”

The first stop I made to this blog was the “Confessions” tab. I thought this would give me a good indication of the blogger’s POV and perhaps, a little entertainment. It did both. Drummond is an incredibly talented writer. She’s honest – very honest, and warm. And she adds in the right amount of humor to keep you reading, reading, and reading for more. For an example of her magic, read the post entitled Freak.

Perhaps the biggest draw to her site for many of you has been her extensive recipe collection. And I do mean – extensive! You can find a recipe for nearly everything on her site, and much of what you’ll find is made from scratch using real ingredients. Her recipes, such as Muffins that Taste Like Donuts, may not always be the best for your diet, but OH do they sound delicious! I have many friends that use Pioneer Woman’s “Tasty Kitchen” as their go-to online recipe source. And for good reason. Like many bloggers I’ve featured, she also has a book out, and it’s a cookbook (of course). The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Recipes from an Accidental Country Girl sells for $16.97 on Amazon and received an average 4.5 star rating after 425 reviews!

I’d also be remiss if I didn’t mention The Pioneer Woman’s beautiful photography. She knows how to work a camera and the images in her posts are stunning. What’s more, she shares with you her best photography tricks so you can take awesome pictures yourself.

This blog is a treasure trove of family, food, and home at its finest. I hope I’ve convinced you to spend some time to check it out and add it to the list of blogs you follow.

Got any more awesome blogs or sites to recommend for this feature? I’m looking for sites that offer depth of content and are complementary to deal blogs at the moments. Topics might include frugal living, frugal decor, cooking, or DIY. Email me your ideas at thecouponproject at hotmail dot com.

I just finished reading the story of how she met her husband (Black Heels to Tractor Wheels). It’s captivating, so be sure you have LOTS of time if you start reading it!

I enjoy reading Pioneer Woman’s blog too. Usually with a cup of coffee and a block of time! Although I rarely use her recipes, I enjoy reading them and taking a trip to the country.
