I was recently contacted from the folks at Wendy’s to see if I’d like to try their new Berry Almond Chicken Salad. When I heard that some of my blogging buds had also been invited, I jumped at the chance!
So I should probably let you know…I’m not a huge salad eater. I only like salads that have a lot of yummy stuff on them. This salad? Fit the bill. I would say it was one of the most delicious salads I’ve ever eaten at a fast food chain.
This salad had large pieces of tasty chicken, plus fresh strawberries and blueberries, asagio cheese, almonds, and a fat free berry dressing. It also had a variety of greens, not just those flavorless, nearly-white lettuce leaves. The flavor combination on this salad? Delicious! (And by the way, I think my salad actually does pretty much look like the advertised version splashed across their website.) The berries were also surprisingly fresh. Not a single shriveled or rotten one to be found.
Here’s my close up pic for the dramatic effect…

The salad came with a few ordering options. You could get a half size, a full size, or a half size with another item. I chose the last option so I could try their new wild berry ice tea with my salad. While the tea was delicious, I think next time I’d be more inclined to order the salad with the potato or chili so I’d have a more substantial meal. Or…just get the full size order of the salad!
So who did I lunch with yesterday?
Jen (from Thrifty NW Mom; in the blue jacket), and Danielle (from Miss Mouthy; to the right) and their beautiful families…
And Sia (from Centsible in Seattle) and her lovely family…
And here I am (left) with my two kiddos and my pal Sarah and her two cutie pies. Someone looks like a Grumpy Gus in the picture. Can you spot who?
We all ordered our lunch and took it to Wapato Park. Unfortunately, the weather could’ve been about 20 degrees warmer. That didn’t stop my kids from enjoying themselves, though.
Well, mostly fun. Until my son decided he was going to push his sister really high on the swing and ignore her protests for “baby pushes”….
