UPDATE: this promotion is now over. It seemed that more than a few of you were frustrated with this one. Unfortunately, I can never predict how these things will go or not, and I hope at least a few of you were able to snag it. There was some confusion if you needed to be an Amex customer or not. According to Fedex’s Facebook page: ”The card is available while supplies last, to US residents aged 18 and older, and you don’t have to be an Amex card holder in order to be eligible for the gift card.”
I appreciate your feedback on these offers – good and bad. It helps me decide which content to share in the future and which to leave well enough alone! Thoughts on this one? Did it work for you?
Did you know that November 26th is Small Business Saturday?
To recognize the importance of supporting small businesses, Fed Ex and American Express are teaming up to offer consumers $25 to shop small businesses.
Here’s how it works.
:: Starting November 1st at 1pm EST (10 AM PST), FedEx will be giving away $25 American Express cards. 30,000 of these will be given away to those who register through the Fedex Facebook page, under the Solutions Hub tab. My guess is they will go extremely fast.
:: These gift cards can be used to support small businesses on November 26, 2011.
:: If you are already an American Express customer, you’ll simply receive the $25 credit on your statement. Please note that you will still need to register ahead of time.
For additional information, please see the Fedex Facebook page as well as the Small Business Saturday Facebook page.

I wanted to remind you that it’s the end of the month, which means it’s a good time to check out Coupons.com, SmartSource, Red Plum, and Coupon Network for any printable coupons you might want to snag.
At the first of the month, many coupons may reset. So if you see anything you like? Snag it now!
A few on Coupons.com stood out to me:
- $1/2 Fleischmann’s Active Dry or RapidRise Yeast (these sometimes go on sale for $1 each!)
- $0.40/1 No Yolks Egg Noodles
- $1/2 Raisinettes
- $1/1 Creta Farms Smoked Sausage
- $1/1 Welch’s Sparkling Juice 4-pack
- $1.50/1 Peet’s Coffee
- $1.50/1 Seattle’s Best 4-pack Lattes
- $1/1 Endust Product
- $1.50/2 Ziploc Brand Containers (the holidays ones are about $2.18 at WinCo right now!)
- $1/2 Ziploc Brand Bags (the holiday storage bags are $1.48 at WinCo right now!)
Head to Coupons.com to see what’s available! And do keep an eye on it over the next couple days. I’ve noticed they added a few new ones today and I imagine we’ll see some new ones throughout the week. Be quick to print any baking/cooking type coupons you may want. These may pair with store sales and may reach print caps quickly.

Think I got any more years of use on that fairy costume?
(In case you’re wondering, she was Foofa from Yo Gabba Gabba in 2010. Notice my son wore the same costume twice too!)
Happy Halloween from my family to yours!

Black Friday will be here in less than a month – will you be shopping?
I wanted to let you know what my plans are here at the site when it comes to Black Friday.
1) First, I will be once again teaming with other Pacific Northwest Bloggers to “round up” Black Friday deals. This will save enormous amounts of time and pool our efforts. For this roundup, I’ll be tackling Ace Hardware. Stay tuned for more information.
2) Second, once again I’ll be providing Black Friday information for Fred Meyer. While I’ve not shopped much on Black Friday, I have to say Fred Meyer’s Black Friday shopping experience is just pleasant. They serve coffee and donuts, the stock is good, and the shoppers are in good spirits.
I’ve reached out to my pals at Fred Meyer to see what I can do to get you the inside scoop about all-things Black Friday there. Here’s what I’ve learned.
First: the Black Friday ad will be first shared to those who have signed up to their email newsletter. So, sign up if you’re planning on shopping the sale and want the ad before it’s shared to the general public!
You will need to sign up for the email newsletter no later than Wednesday, November 9th to ensure you will get the early version of the Black Friday ad later in the following week.

I plan on sharing more information about Fred Meyer’s Black Friday sale as it is shared with me and I obtain clearance to do so. (So stick around!)
I also plan on sharing my thoughts about Black Friday in general in the upcoming days. For more information, you might be interested to watch the webcast I recorded for the 2010 Holiday Shopping Season.
