The randomly-selected winner of the Fresh Words Market print is…

The Miracle Of A Single Flower is probably my favorite. I say “probably” because I love so many of them…

Congrats, Christine – I will be in touch shortly to coordinate the delivery of your prize. (So watch your email!)

If you didn’t win? Check out Fresh Words Market – not only do they offer chic prints, journals, and other gifts, they donate a portion of their proceeds to help women & children’s initiatives around the globe!

QFC is once again offering a “deal of the day,” which is a high value e-coupon you can load onto your QFC card. You snag this by heading to QFC’s website and then loading to your QFC loyalty card. The catch is you only have one day to load it, so you need to check every day to see what they are offering!

Today’s is a good one: $2/1 Brawny Paper Towels!

When I loaded it to my QFC card, it said that the e-coupon is good through December 14, 2011 – so I have a couple weeks to use it.

According to this week’s ad (which you can view online), the Brawny 6 Big Rolls is on sale through next Tuesday for $6.99.

Brawny Paper Towels $6.99
Less $2 e-coupon that you load to your card
Bottom line: $4.99

If you’ve never used e-coupons? Pretty easy actually. Once you’ve loaded the coupon to your card, there’s nothing more to clip or do. Just purchase the item at that store, present your card, and then the $2/1 discount will come off at the point of sale. In my experience, the cashier has to hit “total” (or “pay now” on self checkout) and then you’ll see the $2 e-coupon discount.

Everyone has a Keurig…but me.
And some lucky families will greet DeLonghi under their tree.
Mr. Coffee, I need a little vent;
I’m afraid I’ve grown a wee bit discontent.

Every day it’s the same routine,
Pull you out, grind up those coffee beans.
Cleaning you is getting rather old;
The cup of coffee in my heart is growing cold.

K-cups come in all flavors, new and tasty,
And you can make a cup of joe real hasty;
Other fancy coffee makers turn your milk to froth,
If I put milk in you, Mr. Coffee, well… it would look like broth.

One day I said “I’ve had it!” and I went online to shop,
To see if I could buy a new machine for $50 tops.
But alas, oh my! The horror! Sticker shock!
To pay $150, I just had to balk!

And those K-cups I’ve adored from afar,
Would cost me more than a trip to Zanzibar.
I would not, could not do that price, no not I,
And I sat upon my floor and had a good, old fashioned cry.

So Mr. Coffee, you’re looking good again to me,
I think I’ve come to face the truth finally.
I can put you away, or shove you in a drawer,
Yet you’re always there for me, when I pull you out once more…

Today I’ll make another egg nog latte hack
If Mr. Coffee, won’t you please just take me back?
While you were only $14.99,
Mr. Coffee, you’re mine, oh yes, all mine.

And I’ll celebrate with today’s World Market deal,
(Sorry Mr. Keurig, I’ve just got to keep it real.)
Oh Mr. Coffee, how could I resist?
Merry Christmas, Mr. Coffee….Merry Christmas.

Yesterday I shared that today only there would be a hot sale on coffee at Cost Plus World Market.

I decided to do this deal online where it’s 50% off select coffee vs. B1G1 coffee in-stores.

Here’s what I did:

  • Once at Cost Plus World Market online, I found “Coffee” under the Food & Drink section.
  • Click on the bags of coffee you’re interested in. Only there will you see that they are in fact, 50% today only.  You can buy up to 10 coffee bags online.

  • For World Explorer members (FREE to join), it’s double points day when you buy 1 bag of coffee, which means you earn 2 points for every bag you buy. And since 6 points gets you a free bag of coffee, I decided to buy 9 bags. (9 bags X 2 points each = 18; 18 ÷ 6 points = 3 bags of free coffee from today’s purchase!)
  • BUT WAIT! It gets better! Use coupon code SAVE422 and you’ll save an additional 10% on your World Market purchase. This worked perfectly on today’s order.
  • Just prior to checkout, you’ll be prompted to enter your World Market 10 digit #. If you have not signed up yet, it’s not too late – you can do so online.

So here’s my math:

Yeah, the shipping was a little ouchy on this one, but bear with me. Even with the total out of pocket, look at what I just did:

9 12 oz bags of coffee = $39.22 ($4.35 each shipped!)
PLUS I earned 3 FREE bags with the 18 points I will receive from this purchase!
That drops the cost to just $3.27 each – even with the shipping!

Now according to my Explorer account, it takes up to 72 hours to process my order. So I am sharing you this information reasonably confident that I have just earned 18 points and 3 bags of coffee.

Here’s how I saved even more today…

I started my transaction at Ebates, where today’s Cash Back rate is 4% for World Market. That means I’ll expect to see a $1.38 cash credit in my account for today’s purchase, bringing the total price per coffee bag to just $3.15 each (and that includes the shipping cost). If you want to go this route and you’re new to Ebates, you’ll earn a $5 cash credit just for signing up – which makes your deal even sweeter!

Doing this deal in stores

If you decide to avoid shipping cost and do the deal in store, please note that the sale is structured as a “buy one, get one free” and reader Annie has informed me you only earn the points on the bags you buy (not the free ones). Even still, the math works out a bit more in favor of the store version.

Buy (5) bags for $6.99
Get (5) bags free
Use the 10% off coupon (from yesterday’s mailer)
Bottom line: $31.56 (plus, NO shipping costs!)

You would also earn 10 points, or 1 free bag of coffee total (and you’d be 2 points away from another one)
Bottom line: $2.86 each for 11 bags of coffee!

As for me? Well I opted for the online sale! While I could’ve saved a bit by going to the store, my nearest World Market is a good drive across town and would’ve involved about an hour and a half out of my day I didn’t have. ;)
