Tacoma Boys Produce = Fuji Apples $0.50/lb, Inexpensive Veggie Starts

I dropped into Tacoma Boys today on 6th Avenue. Have you ever been?

They also have a sister store in Lakewood called H&L Produce and they offer great deals on produce, meat, and more. I wanted to share a few things I found today:

Gallon-size tomato plants for just $2.50 each. They looked really healthy!

Pack-size veggie starts $1.50 each – they had tons of different varieties including lettuces, chard, tomatoes, and more.

They also are selling small bunches of local daffodils for $1 this week, but I didn’t take a picture. (Sorry, you’ll just have to trust me on that one.)

I ended up with this:

It’s about 22-24 pounds of Fuji apples for $10! They are not perfect looking and I had to hunt a bit, but they will be fantastic for some applesaucing I plan to do today.

If you like Tacoma Boys, I recommend you follow them on Facebook. They frequently post deals there you won’t find anywhere else. For instance they might say, “for our Facebook fans, ask for <<insert deal here>> at the butcher’s block today only.”

One of the most beautiful produce displays in town. HANDS DOWN.

You can also find their ad online. A few notables:

  • Lettuce for $1/head
  • D’anjou pears for $1/lb
  • Cauliflower for $1.50/each
  • Broccoli for $1/lb

Do you like shopping at Tacoma Boys/H&L Produce? And if you’re not local, do you have a similar local market you like to shop at?

Thanks Angela, I’ve always wanted to stop in but never made the time. Will do one of these days when I’m in the area.
