I can’t say I’ve ever seen a Groupon deal quite like this.
For $25, you can participate in a massive food fight where 5,000 people will basically be hurling roma tomatoes at each other (a value of $50!). This will be hosted at Pyramid Alehouse on August 11th. Apparently there will also be beer and live music at this event and you need to be 21 to attend.
There is a limited number of this Groupon available, so head to Groupon Seattle if interested.
Does anyone know if this is something they do every year? I’m strangely intrigued…

Yes…..it happens every yr, why I don’t know, they were doing it when I moved here 20+ yrs ago, not that I’m old @41 lol
Goodness, I can’t believe I’ve never heard of this! I lived in Seattle for a few years too…yikes.
It seems like there would be a much better way to use 5000 tomatoes? Still pretty hilarious though.
Can’t get people to donate $25 to buy the tomatoes for the needy instead of wasting them.
If it makes you feel any better, a reader on my Facebook page said that the tomatoes are rotten.
There is a huge festival in Spain called “La Tomatina” that is right around the same time of the year that started in the 1930′s. Maybe they are bringing the tradition to the US? Looks like fun, though I agree with the idea that it can be a waste.
