I decided to check out Rite Aid today to check in on the 75% clearance toys I reported last night. I did find a few things – along with some toys marked 25% and 50% off.
I forgot to note the price, but I believe you’re looking at less than $5 after discount for the Liv doll.
I did spot the Don’t Break the Ice Game for $3.49 after discount!
There were a few toys that would make nice stocking stuffers or small gifts, like these Matchbox cars. After discount, you’d pay just $1.49.
So not toys, but a really good deal! The folding chairs are buy one, get one free this week and the prices start at $14.95. Two camping chairs for $14.95 is not a bad deal in my book!
Also – all the planters are 50% off! For some reason my photo didn’t take, so you’ll just have to trust me on this one. The largest ones were $19.99, so you’d pay $9.99. These are the same size/style that I’m using for my tomato plants on my deck to give you an idea.
I ended up snagging the Don’t Break the Ice Game along with this doll:
It was just $3.24, 75% off of $12.99!
Total today:
So that’s $7.37 (including tax), and $20.25 saved!
A word here: in the past, I’ve relied on the unadvertised toy Target clearance markdowns in summer for my holiday gift stock up. I don’t think that’s such a wise strategy for me anymore, and here’s why. The markdown event seems to now be a really fiercely competitive event and shelves are cleared out before you can say boo. The past few times I’ve tried to do the sale, I’ve come out with just a couple things – if that. The markdowns used to go to 75%, and now it’s 70%. I won’t say it’s a bad sale for everyone, I suppose I’m just over these super intense sales. I think I’d prefer to just watch for sales like this one – and also Fred Meyer which discounts toys about the same time as Target does and not many people seem to notice/care when that happens. So that’s my two-cents on the Target markdown event. (I will still be sharing more about this sale as we approach July – so don’t despair if you still really look forward to it – I’ll still get you the scoop.)
I’d love to know if you find anything at Rite Aid this week! And if you’re planning a trip, make sure to stop by my Rite Aid post for the week.

I did better with the target sale when I wasn’t trying! I hit a store that evidently isn’t shopped as much 2 weeks after the big mark down and found GOLD MINES
However.. I’m finding that I too prefer the stores / sales that are less advertised.. I scored BIG TIME on the disney sale in January (So much so that I’m done with 90% of my christmas / birthday shopping for the kids in my life right now).
Wow! See I wasn’t even aware of that one! Way to go!
Just saw on baby cheapskate that Disney is having their twice a year sale!!! SHIPTODAY gives you free shipping over $75 – Ebates gives you 3% back.. this is the sale I hit in January that rocked my world
OH! Awesome! Thanks for the heads up!!!
I was at Winco last night and they had Wet N Wild lipsticks and nail polishes on sale for .48. I bought a bunch of the nail polishes for stocking stuffers and to add as extra goodies in birthday bags.
I was not impressed with the Target toy clearance this year, although I was very, very excited to find the one thing I truly wanted still there when it went to 70% (although it was the LAST one). I was so bummed, I had been stalking the stores for three weeks, then the day the big markdown happened two of my kids had well child checks in the morning, and by the time I got there, there was just nothing left. A couple of summers ago I scored big time on a Tag reader and Tag books for my oldest at Fred Meyer (they were 60% of not on clearance, and a couple of the books were on clearance for around $3) as well as a few clearance Leapster games for around $5. I got like $300+ worth of stuff for about $80. That’s been my favorite place to watch ever since.
I feel the same way about the Target toy clearance. The closest ones to me are at least 20 miles away & it is simply not worth getting up at the crack of dawn & driving the far (with a 3 yr old) on the off chance that I MIGHT get some great deals. I do still pick up clearance toys there every so often, but I look for things that I KNOW I want & will generally pick them up if I know they are cheaper than I have found them anywhere else on sale. So I still get a few great deals on toys that I know my daughter/nephews/friends’ kids, etc. want & will love. I may not get them at 70% off, but I do still save a bunch. We do have a Fred Meyer very close & I keep an eye out for their 50% or more off clearance price sales. I have managed to get some really good deals on toys from there as well. Doing it this way, I have an idea of what I want, look while I’m already out & there is so much less stress. FAR better way to do things in my opinion!
I was so set for failure on the last Target sale, I didn’t bother finding someone to watch the big kid then I hit the jackpot! The Northgate Target was well stocked with Lightning McQueen, Hot Wheels, Chuggington and Legos. I had to tell the kiddo I was buying things for his friends so he wouldn’t know some were for him. We’ve been very popular gift givers this year too, it’s fun to spoil our friends’ kids with awesome gifts but I’m not counting on doing that well every time.
We’ve actually cut way back on gifts for the kids this year anyway. It was a real act of self control that we only gave our son 4 gifts for his birthday but I’m a happier mama and he’s a more focused kid when there aren’t so many toys around here. So, we’ll keep gifting cool stuff and probably won’t bother with the next big sale.
