just wanted to say I have been loving the New SW Just for You!! I have been shopping there more often due to the deals I have been getting!! One complaint I have is that the print at home coupons are never good there because they won’t scan. The cashier tells me if they wont scan they wont take them
Last night I was there and I used self check out (not really a fan) and the register wouldn’t even scan my sunday coupons. So the cashier had to input them manually. So I asked about the printable ones and she tells me the same story. Well if the register didn’t scan my regular coupons how would I know for sure it wouldn’t take my printable ones. Kinda irritating to think I am getting a great deal and find out it’s only ok because my coupons wont scan
Albertsons never has this problem, wondering if it’s a cop out for SW??
Anyone else having this problem?
I would try a diff. Safeway because I have shopped at several safeways and they have never not taken my coupons. The only time my coupon was rejected is because 4U gave me a better coupon.
I have found some stores and cashiers are more coupon friendly than others.
Kim,
And, for the record, I’m not abusing. That saving is with following coupon guidelines. I’m so upset at this person, whoever you are.
I had the very same problem late yesterday afternoon. I had 3 or 4 printable coupons in hand, and was told because they wouldn’t scan, they wouldn’t accept them. Because I shop there so often, the cashier manually inputted them for me, but was very upfront in telling me there was a customer who comes into that same store I shop at who abuses the coupons. She said she copies them, and will use $30 at one time, so they had to call their corporate office about it, and after a regional meeting it was determined if the coupon didn’t scan, it wasn’t to be accepted. Whenever we have printed coupons from the computer, we have used “draft print” to save money, and my husband was curious if we would still have the same problem if we used high quality print for the coupons. I’m really sad because I just started getting into couponing, Combined with their new Just4U program, on average I save 45%-65% at Safeway each trip
Do you have a link for the $.55/1 foster farms lunchmeat coupon?
I updated the post with a direct link to that coupon. Sorry about that!
Thank you Lori!
Thank you!
I’ve had a problem w/ coupons I’ve printed too. Try asking the cashier to clean the register. I’ve had some luck w/ them working then. And if I’m only picking up a few items I’ll go through self check out and oddly enough some of my coupons will work there too.
I tried using a $1/1 coupon for Kraft salad dressing at Safeway. The sale price for the dressing was $1.49. She would not take my coupon because it was for over half the price of the item. Is this regular practice?
NO! It’s not!! The whole idea is to use coupons on sales for the best deal. I’d phone the store’s manager or customer service to clarify. Sorry you had that issue.
Oh wow! This is exactly why I always carry a copy of the store’s coupon policy in my coupon binder. I would’ve calmly asked to speak to a manager and asked them to point out where their policy says that the coupon value cannot be over half the price of the item. Crazy!
