My Fun Albertsons Coupon Round-up Shopping Trip: $0.09 Organic Tomato Sauce, FREE Paper Towels & MORE!

I sat out last weekend’s Albertsons Twice the Value deals, but decided that I really wanted to get in on some of this week’s coupon round-up ones!

It was a pretty fun trip, made more fun that the store wasn’t too busy and stock was fantastic! I found everything I wanted, and left plenty on the shelves for you. ;)

Here are my totals for everything pictured above:

Shelf Value: $59.59
What I paid: $12.09
What I saved: 80% (or $47.50)

A few of these deals I’d like to mention so you can take advantage of them too:

Muir Glen 8 oz Organic Tomato Sauce $1.09
$0.50/1 printable coupon
Rounds up to $1!
Bottom line: $0.09!

Yoplait Simplait $0.75
$0.30/1 coupon from 10/7 General Mills insert
Rounds up to $0.75!
Bottom line: FREE
(Note: there was a glitch in the system when I was there earlier and this deal was producing overage – something that should NOT be happening. They were working on it when I left, but heads up, there may be some manual entering in at checkout!)

Bounty Basics Single Paper Towel $1
$0.25/1 ANY Bounty towel coupon from 10/14 P&G (limit 4)
Rounds up to $1
Bottom line: FREE
(I’ve NEVER found these in stock on a round-up event until today! Awesome!)

Select Mars Candy Bars $0.79
$0.50/2 tearpad coupon found on display
Rounds up to $1!
Bottom line: $0.29 each
(I needed these for my son’s emergency school pack – perfect!)

Maruchan Yakisoba $1.25
$0.50/1 coupon from 8/26 & 10/14 SmartSource
Rounds up to $1!
Bottom line: $0.25
(I didn’t do this deal, but thought I’d share it!)

I was particularly excited by the Honey Nut Cheerios deal, too. They were just $1.75 each when you buy (4). While there were a few other varieties included, the Honey Nut Cheerios made best sense to me because of the coupons available. Here’s what I did for that:

Buy (4) Honey Nut Cheerios $1.75 each
Used (2) $0.50/1 printable coupons
AND (2) $0.60/1 printable coupons
Bottom line: $0.75 each!

I hope these ideas get you started. It was a really easy, fun shopping trip! Make sure to take a look at my Albertsons weekly coupon matchup list for more ideas, and I’d LOVE it if you shared additional deal ideas you find, too!

Not sure of you saw this deal yet, but at Safeway the yokisoba noodles are buy 1 get 1 free… So with the $.50 coupon and the double coupon you get 2 for $.29… $.04 more gets you a second one.

Oh man do I wish Safeway would double in my area! You must be in the South Washington or Portland area?

Ok I have to rant!!! I went to Albertsons today and half of the stuff on my list I couldn’t get because a lady was in a 6am and cleared the shelves! I don’t like clearing shelves and I think it is not right! I only wanted a couple of each items that were cleared out like toothpaste, noodles, papertowels and ect. It’s not fair for the rest of us who are trying to save money and I have a family of 8! I mean come on if you know that you are going in there to get that much stuff just pre -order! Ok I am done and feel better! But in the end I did get some good deals and thank you for all you do on your blog!

Oh no….your rant is completely justified. I would be so disappointed too, and I sure wish stores would work to limit these customers or assist them in other ways. :(

There is more I could say on this topic, but I don’t want to spark an ugly debate. Suffice it to say, I have some strong feelings on what people may do with those items they clear the shelves with…. nuff said.

Glad you got some things and I hope you have a better trip next time!

Hi Angela

Just wondering why your tomato coupon only rounded up to .75. I thought it rounded up to a dollar? I think I’m confused. Thanks

Sorry, meant your yogurt coupon!

Okay…nevermind lol. I just realized it would only round up to the final price of the product with no overage…duhhhh! :)

Milton! It’s a fabulous store if you’re ever in the area!

I have all but given up on couponing at Albertsons. Every time I go, there is nothing left :( . I live about 30 minutes away and I get so disappointed when I drive all the way out there excited for some great deals and end up looking at empty shelves. I try to go around and look for alternative plans for my doublers and what not, but hardly ever makes it worth my drive and frustration! Glad some of you are making it work.

You know what has helped some, Kim? I’ve reached out to the manager of my store. I know she periodically follows this blog (and perhaps others). I will sometimes email her of upcoming sales and deals. I’m not sure if this is feasible for you or not, but I’d encourage you to consider contacting your store manager and letting him/her know your feelings and what’s going on. Knowing that some people have stores that are stocked and stores that are not so great, makes me wonder what the difference is, and if working with the store managers directly would help. I can’t guarantee that will solve the problem, but I think it’s worth a shot! GL!

I agree Kim C! I am in the same boat with Albertson’s. I work and have kids and don’t have the time or energy to beat the shelf clearers into my store. It’s very disappointing to put in the leg work and then go into the store to find almost all the items you were wanting to get “a couple” of are all gone. I’ve used rainchecks a few times, but you rarely can get the same great deal with them. :-( I’ve all but stopped shopping there and just go to Safeway now. I am liking their new Just4U couponing.

How are others allowed to use more than 4 coupons when the coupons clearly says only four per household per day?

Reply

arussell October 19, 2012 at 6:13 am

On the Bounty? They should NOT be then!

Reply

Megan October 20, 2012 at 6:03 pm

Yes, the Bounty coupon clearly states in red that you may only use 4 coupons per day per household. Last time I saw a couponer with a cart full of towels, and I only had 2 coupons and I was unable to get any because they were getting fourty! I even asked if I could have two rolls because of how many they had and the language on the coupon but it didn’t work. I don’t understand how the cashier can let them purchase so many.

Well if the cashier is not paying attention to the fine print, and the coupon doesn’t beep – well I could see how it could be missed.

But yes, absolutely – there is a limit and one should not be buying more than 4!
