My Awesome Albertsons Trip: 85% Saved (& how I got FREE Dole Juice!)

There were just too many good deals at Albertsons to pass up with this round of Twice the Value coupons! I managed to make it over to my store late afternoon and lo and behold, they had stock – lots of it! I was able to get everything I wanted! (Seriously, a big shout out right there to the Milton store! You guys rock!)

I also wanted to share this trip with you because there were a couple new coupons in yesterday’s paper that made for some truly CRAZY HOT deals. Here’s my trip:

Transaction 1:

Bought (1) Dole Juice
Bought (4) Quaker Oatmeal
$1.88 each when you buy 5 for the mix & match
Use (2) $1/2 Quaker coupons from 9/30 Moments to Save
Use (1) $1/1 Dole from 9/30 Red Plum
Use (3) Doublers
Bottom line: $3.31!

Transaction 2:

Bought (1) Dole Juice
Bought (4) Quaker Oatmeal
$1.88 each when you buy 5 for the mix & match
Use (2) $1/2 Quaker coupons from 9/30 Moments to Save
Use (1) $1/1 Dole from 9/30 Red Plum
Use (3) Doublers
Bottom line: $3.21!
(Why this was $0.10 less than the prior transaction is beyond me – the tax was $0.10 less)

Transaction 3:

Bought (1) Tostitos Chips $3
Bought (1) Danimals Crunchers $2
Bought (1) Dole Juice $1.88
Used (1) $1/1 Tostitos coupon from 9/30 Moments to Save
Used (1) $0.75/1 Danimals coupon from 8/26 SmartSource (it’s also available at Coupons.com)
Used (1) $1/1 Dole coupon from 9/30 Red Plum
Used (1) $1 off Catalina coupon earned from buying Vitamins last week
Used (3) doublers
Bottom line: $1.29!

Here are my grand totals:

Shelf Cost: $53.60
What I Paid: $7.81
What I Saved: $45.79 (85%!)

Again, the stock was great! I was certain that getting there at 4pm on Sunday would be almost not worth it, but it was. There was a LOT of juice and oatmeal – a lot of everything I wanted, quite frankly. Incidentally, I’ve not bought Quaker oatmeal in a longgggg time. We’ve just not seen the strong sales for it, so I’ve been buying it in bulk. (So there’s a little tip for you of what to do in the absence of sales & coupons.) For my kids, this is a nice treat, and one that did not break the bank.

I still have two more sets of doublers and am thinking of going back for a few more items!

The doubler has 2 bar codes. One is for food and one is for non-food. Cashiers sometimes don’t pay attention to this and will scan a non-food coupon on food so you will be charged tax on that coupon which comes up to about 10 cents since tax is around 9.5%.

I was super excited to see the Quaker sale, too, since I’ve been holding onto a stack of $1/1 Quaker Oat Squares coupons that my neighbor gifted me. I’m going tonight with my doublers to get FREE cereal… WOOT!

Oh that is an error – you’re right – it was $2.88! I figured it was still a bargain at $0.88!

I can not locate the Dole coupon in my Red Plum (Oregonian). Was this a regional coupon?

Oh no! I can tell you it was in both the Tacoma & Seattle papers.

Oh Angela, I just totally LOL’d at your comment about going on Sunday afternoon maybe not being worth it! Try shopping at 10p on TUESDAY!

Seriously though, I often shop the Albies doublers on Tuesday evenings and have had pretty good luck recently. Maybe the inventory people are reading the blogs finally? I was shocked to find the Planter’s PB a few weeks ago actually IN STOCK on a Tuesday….

This week, I (no surprise) found no oatmeal at 10p on Tuesday, but I did get 2 Healthy Choice baked meals, 6 Kraft Fresh Takes, 4 Mt. Olive roasted red peppers, 1 multigrain Pringles, 1 4lb sugar, 2 strips Fleishmann’s yeast, 1 Jennie-O turkey bacon, 2 Gerber’s grabbers, and a 17lb bag of Iam’s dog food for only $11.55 TOTAL I had $7 in MM after doubling cats, which made for nearly free sugar, free bacon, and cheap(er), quality dog food. Ended up using all 21 of my doublers plus 3 I found that some nice couponer had left at the store (figured it was 11p, so who else would use them?!)

Actually, I should have known to expect more from my Milton store! ;) I do know the manager there, and she is aware of my blog and sometimes reads it! ;)

And how nice of the other couponer? Love it!
