2014 Savings Tracker + Brief Video Tutorial

Free Savings Tracker: How much do coupons save you? | The Coupon Project

As we approach year-end 2013, I wanted to remind you about the free Savings Tracker tool for Excel I created several years ago! I’ve just updated it for 2014 and it can be found at the Savings Tracker page.

Since this tool has been in place, the tracker has helped many readers stay motivated to coupon and stay on budget. Here are just a few of the testimonials I’ve received:

We are on a tight budget to begin with, but your sheet helped me budget our groceries. As a result we ate more healthy meals than not. Tracked the savings this year with your sheet and saved our family over $8000. – Leona

Thanks for this! It has been my favorite budgeting tool for over 2 years. I always look forward to downloading the new one. – Mandi

Thank you! I love your Savings Tracker. It has helped me come in under budget this year ($33.37) with a 76.03% savings rate over all. – Beth

I have been using it for over 6 months now and it is a great reminder as why to keep up with couponing and i love seeing how much i have saved each month. – Anastasia

It’s helped me so much over the last two years to keep track of my savings and to keep me motivated to use coupons. – Amber

More about the Savings Tracker and what it Does

I initially created the Savings Tracker to answer the question, “do coupons really save you money on your groceries?” After hours of tinkering, I came up with a powerful Excel spreadsheet that helps you do the following:

  • Create and monitor a grocery budget
  • Track the % saved of individual shopping trips
  • At-a-glance see how much $ coupons have saved you by month and year
  • At-a-glance see how much $ store sales have saved you by month and year

The Tracker has also evolved a bit thanks in part to users’ feedback. I’ve also always encouraged people to make it their own tool. Once you’ve downloaded, you’re free to tinker with it to suit your personal preferences.

How to use the Savings Tracker

I put together a short (under 5 minute) tutorial on how to set up your Tracker for 2014 and get started. It’s really quite simple because you’re only having to input a few key numbers – the Tracker does the calculations for you automatically, every time!

A word to bloggers/coupon instructors/website owners/etc: please note that I’ve worked really hard to develop and offer the Savings Tracker as a unique, free service to the community here at The Coupon Project. Please do not scrape this tool and offer it as a download on your own site. You are welcomed and encouraged, however, to notify your readers or customers about this tool and direct them here for the download. (If you have any questions on how you wish to share it, please feel free to email me directly at angela @ thecouponproject.com).

I love this tracker! Over the past year I’ve taken it and evolved it into my own spending tracker, everything gets put into it now and I even made a tab to track trends from month to month :) Awesome budget helper!

Thank you so much for this tool! This will be my 4th year using it and I’ve been able to not only track for the month and year but also how much I have saved over the past three! This year is $5297 which is up about $1000 from the prior two! I recommend it to anyone trying to stay on a grocery budget.

This will be my 3rd year using the savings tracker! All I can say is THANK YOU! My goal is to hit $5,000 saved this year as we plan a trip to Disney. My best ever was $4,770.70. I love that not only does it motivate you to keep going, but makes you aware of your spending patterns as well. This is a great tool every couponer should be using! Thanks Again!
