Today’s Adventures in Bulk Food feature is something that might surprise you some stores carry in bulk: honey.
I love buying my honey in bulk at WinCo mostly because of the red warning sign that lifting the lid will let the bees escape. Makes me smile every time. (And no, for the record, there are no bees in there.)
I don’t know about you, but we’re big honey fans in this house. Especially my 5-year old son. He’d drizzle the stuff on everything if I let him!
For this post, I wanted to share two simple ways you can use this versatile, healthful ingredient. The cost at WinCo Foods for honey is $3.45/lb. This seems comparable to what I was able to find on the shelf. They offer clover, orange, and blackberry. The advantage here is being able to get the quantity you need and/or having it fresh. We frequently do buy our honey this way.
Did you know you could make your own tasty and frugal cough syrup using these two household ingredients?
I don’t know about you, but this mixture sounds so much more inviting than a bottled remedy late at night! I think you could also just as easily mix these items into hot tea or water for a steamy drink on a cold night.
Honey Almond Dip
Here is a simple and healthful recipe for your next party!
Mix 3 cups plain yogurt, 1 cup chopped almonds, and 1 tablespoon of honey. Serve as a dip to fruit!
