Today only (Friday, 1/12), Amazon is offering up to 80% off popular Kindle eBooks! While Amazon frequently has eBook sales, this is an especially good one as it includes a lot of very popular, very highly-rated titles.
Don’t have a Kindle? No worries – Kindle eBooks can be read on iPad, iPhone, and Android devices with the free Kindle reading apps in addition to Kindle devices.
Here are some of the included titles:
Gone Girl: A Novel by Gillian Flynn – $3.99 (reg. $16)
If it’s possible to hate and love a book at the same time, that’s how I feel about Gone Girl. (I literally threw the book across the room at one point I was so mad…I don’t recommend doing that with your Kindle.) It’s pretty dark but very intriguing with lots of twists and turns. Don’t spoil yourself by reading ahead.
Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption by Laura Hillenbrand – $2.99 (reg. $16)
I haven’t yet read this book but Angela loves it. Here’s what she had to say in her Favorite Things post from 2014:
Do you ever read a book SO good you just won’t/can’t/refuse to shut up about it? That is exactly how I felt when I finished reading Unbroken. This is the amazing true story of Louis Zamperini, an Olympic athlete turned WWII airman. When his bomber crashes over the South Pacific, a series of remarkable events follow. This is a story not only of survival, but redemption and forgiveness. In the 7+ years of our book club, this is the book I say has been my favorite (and we’ve read probably read 50-60 books now!).
Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail by Cheryl Strayed – $3.99 (reg. $15.95)
Lots of people love this book and Oprah featured it in her book club, but Angela wasn’t as sold on it. Here’s what she said:
Several of you recommended that I read Wild, an autobiographical book about a gal who decides to hike the Pacific Crest Trail from California to Washington by herself. While the premise sure sounded interesting, I quickly discovered I wasn’t much a fan of Ms. Strayed or the book. I found it to be a bit indulgent and I never really connected with the point of her trip. (I know I’m likely upsetting a ton of people out there because this book got rave reviews. I guess I’m not your average book reader, huh?) In the end, I decided I didn’t care enough about her personal quest for finding herself, so I abandoned the book with about 50 pages to go. My book club was pretty equally divided on who enjoyed/didn’t enjoy the book.
Station Eleven: A Novel by Emily St. John Mandel – $2.99 (reg. $15.95)
This has been on my “must-read” list for a while now and I really need to get around to it! I love apocalyptic/dystopian novels with light science fiction elements. My own personal book whisperer, Anne Bogel of Modern Mrs. Darcy calls this book a pageturner…she read it in two days!
This is just a small sampling of this sale – remember, it’s good today only (1/12). Head to Amazon to check it out!
