Albertsons

Some of you have recently left comments on my blog and Facebook page saying you’ve heard that there will be no more Twice the Value coupons at Albertsons. In general, I’m very wary about spreading rumors that I’ve not verified by corporate, because I do not want to create a hysteria. However, due to the volume of these inquiries I’m getting and the fact that Albertsons has in part acknowledged these rumors themselves, I feel I should mention this today.

The problem I’m running into is that there are a lot of changes happening right now at Albertsons and their parent umbrella company, SuperValu. In case you were unaware, SuperValu recently sold Albertsons (as well as  Acme, Jewel-Osco, Shaw’s and Star Market). Given the changes happening internally, I’m not surprisingly having a bit of a time getting you more information about how this will impact your shopping experience at Albertsons.

So, will there still be Twice the Value coupons? Quite frankly, I’m not sure. I think it will depend on the new buyer and if they choose to continue that program. A contact I reached at Albertsons yesterday shared this link with me entitled Albertsons, Coupons, and You which states, in part:

So the BIG question is, are we changing programs?

The short answer is, “possibly.”

My thought on Twice the Value coupons? It’s too early to tell. I’ve said for a long time that it’s important to not grow too dependent on any one particular way of saving. (You might want to read my post on Frugal Living Diversification for a little encouragement.) I do want you to be aware of the buy out, and have in the back of your mind that ANY coupon program at Albertsons is currently subject to change.

I’m still working on re-establishing a contact there, but I was told that it won’t likely be until after the dust settles, sometime in May. If I’m given more information from corporate to share on this topic, you can bet your buttons I will share it with you. In the meantime, the link at Albertsons.com is the most complete answer I can provide.

AblieDoubler

Good news! Albertsons has issued three Twice the Value coupons (AKA “doublers”) in today’s Sunday paper. You have until Tuesday to use them.

If you are new to my site or shopping Albertsons, I highly recommend you check out my post on How Twice the Value Coupons Work, or watch my short instructional YouTube video on the topic.

As I stated on Friday, this past week was one filled with family and household commitments and one where, quite frankly, the blog needed to take a second seat. Accordingly, I did not have the time to spend a couple hours at the store scouting out unadvertised deals for you. But, I want you to know what the deals are so you can snag ‘em!

My pals at Thrifty NW Mom have a great round-up of Twice the Value deals so I’m going to send you there today for some inspiration. Here are a few that stood out to me:

Bailey’s Coffee Creamer, 16 oz $1.67
$1/1 Bailey’s Coffee Creamer from 1/20 SmartSource
Use a doubler
Bottom line: FREE

Campbell’s Skillet Sauces $2
$1/1 Campbell’s Skillet Sauces  Printable Coupon
OR$1/1 Campbell’s Skillet Sauces from 1/20 SmartSource
or $.75/1 Campbell’s Skillet Sauces Printable Coupon
Use a doubler
Bottom line: as low as FREE

Dentyne Ice, Trident White or Stride Singles – $1.00/ea.
$1/2 Dentyne or Trident from 3/17 Smart Source Insert
Use a doubler
Bottom line: BOTH FREE

Planters Peanut Butter – $2.50/ea.
Buy 2, Get $1.00 Catalina
Use (2) $1/1 Planters Product from 1/27 SmartSmart
OR (2) $1/1 Planters Peanut Butter Peelie Coupon
And use (2) Doublers
Pay $1.00, Get back $1.00 Catalina
Bottom line: BOTH FREE after Catalina

Make sure to stop by Thrifty NW Mom for the rest of the unadvertised deals, and make sure to check out our Albertsons weekly deals post for more advertised finds.

What deals will you be hoping to snag?

Here are the best deals I could see happening at Albertsons starting today (Wed the 13th) and running through next Tuesday, the 19th.

100_7230 (800x446)

Awesome news: there is a coupon round-up event this week! Here’s how the round-up works, in case you are not familiar:

  • Coupons valued at $0.24 or less will be quadrupled in value.
  • Coupons valued $0.25 – $0.99 will be rounded up to $1.
  • Coupons valued at $1 or more will be redeemed at face value.
  • This round-up offer applies to manufacturer coupons, not store coupons.
  • Coupons cannot produce overage under this promotion.

A few tips: in my experience, some of the lower-value P&G and General Mills insert coupons work really well for this promotion! The $0.25/1 Bounty Paper Towel coupon from the 3/3 P&G insert, for instance, will yield you a FREE single paper towel roll when rounded up to $1 (they are regularly priced at $1). I would just say: please PLEASE read and abide by the fine print! That Bounty coupon clearly states “Limit 4 like coupons per household per day.” If you are leaving with a cart full of Bounty? You’ve not followed the fine print, even if you did multiple transactions. (OK, stepping off my coupon police soapbox!)
