Grocery Outlet Finds: Justin’s Peanut Butter $2.99, Tahini for $1.99 & (2) $25 Gift Card Giveaway!

DSCN6002 (800x645)

DSCN6002 (800x645)I had the chance to pop by my local Federal Way Grocery Outlet store today to scout out some deals for you! I found many – so please take this post as highlights of what you might find at your store. Remember each Grocery Outlet store is independently owned and operated, so selection and prices may vary.

DSCN6003 (593x800)Right out front of the store I found these blueberry plants for just $1.99.

DSCN6004 (800x600)Mangoes were $0.50 each. Perfect, since one of my recipes this month for Grocery Outlet’s Bargainista Blog involves mango salsa!

DSCN6007 (800x600)Progresso Recipe Starters were $0.50 each.

soapgoI found all kinds of fancy soaps for less, including a 4-piece boxed set for $8.99 (elsewhere $24.95) and coconut soap for just $0.79.

DSCN6012 (600x800)Assorted Valentine Card boxes were just $0.10!! This would be a good time to stock up!

DSCN6013 (600x800)

I found a couple really nice coffee table books for just $4.99. I ended up picking this one up!

DSCN6015 (800x600)

Look what I found in housewares – a sweet little bento box for only $7.99! There was a slightly smaller size for $6.99. It also includes the containers and silverware inside.

DSCN6018 (800x600)8-pack Microfiber Scrubber Cloths for $3.99. These would make great, reusable cleaning rags. (Plus, they come in a variety of cute colors!)

DSCN6019 (800x600)Cleaning supplies for just $0.99 – shower cleaner, counter spray, and the like.

DSCN6021 (607x800)Check this out – Maranatha Tahihi for just $1.99! Elsewhere, pay up to $4.99. This is a great price!

DSCN6006 (800x600)

Here’s another amazing find – Justin’s Peanut Butter for $2.99! They had regular and a honey-flavored peanut butter.

organicgo

It might surprise you to learn that Grocery Outlet can actually be a great source of deals on organic food! Today I found organic chicken ($2.29/lb), organic chicken & spinach soup ($0.99), Arrowhead organic yellow corn meal ($1.99), and Arrowhead organic stone ground wheat flour ($1.99).

DSCN6022 (600x800)

I even found red quinoa for $3.99!

DSCN6023 (800x600)

Canned pumpkin for just $0.99.

DSCN6032 (800x600)I was very excited to find Tillamook Greek Yogurt for $0.50. Check out the flavor – Cinnamon Hazelnut! It’s not at all uncommon to find flavors at Grocery Outlet you wouldn’t in your normal supermarket. Sometimes manufacturers will sell flavors they are testing or didn’t perform well in other stores at Grocery Outlet. Last year, I found the Tillamook dessert yogurt months before it was offered in other stores!

DSCN6033 (800x600)

Athenos Feta Cheese for just $1.49! Perfect for making the Mediterranean Chicken Salad recipe I shared on the blog last week!

fishgo

Have you ever checked out the seafood at Grocery Outlet? I found some great deals today! Swordfish for $9.99/lb, Tilapia for $5.99 (2 lb bag), Swai fillets for $4.99 (2 lb bag).

DSCN6037 (800x600)Coffee-mate Creamers, 16 oz $0.99!

Meatballs 2 Ways

Meatballs Two Ways: Italian Wedding Soup & Spaghetti & Meatballs

Meatballs 2 Ways

Meatballs 2 Ways: Italian Wedding Soup & Spaghetti & MeatballsWhat’s one way you can save money on your groceries? Effective menu planning, I say! This year at Grocery Outlet’s Bargainista Blog my goal is to show how you can create two or more meals based around similar ingredients to save big bucks.

This month it’s all about meatballs! I start by creating a very simple and delicious meatball recipe. The first night, you’ll cook half of the batch in a savory Italian Wedding Soup. When I started cooking this soup, my son asked, “Mama, what is that good smell?” And then my kids proceeded to eat a huge bowl of it each! The next night, you’ll take your reserved meatballs and simmer them in a from-scratch spaghetti sauce that will have you vowing to never buy the jarred stuff again!

Delicious, easy… and best of all, frugal. To get the shopping list and recipes, please head on over to my post over at Grocery Outlet’s Bargainista Blog.

Best Ever Slow Cooker Chili | The Coupon Project

The Best Chili Recipe EVER + Grocery Gift Card Winners Announced!

Best Ever Slow Cooker Chili | The Coupon Project

Best Ever Slow Cooker Chili | The Coupon Project

Last year, I had the privilege to write for one of my favorite stores, Grocery Outlet. The theme I came up with in 2013 was Breaking the Dinner Rut by shopping Grocery Outlet for inspiration.

I am excited to share that I’ll be continuing to write for Grocery Outlet in 2014! After some pondering, I decided to change things up. What I want to do is show you how to create a couple cost effective meals using ingredients purchased at Grocery Outlet. To keep it spicy, my recipes and meal plans will be sufficient enough for a family of up to 6. I want to accomplish this by selecting meals that allow you to take your leftovers and turn them into a new meal, or by selecting a couple dinner recipes that share similar ingredients.

January? It’s killer, friends. I decided to make a hearty slow-cooker chili and then the next day, you’re going to turn the leftovers into burritos. Now I’ve made a lot of chili in my day, but I do have to say – this is the absolute BEST chili I’ve ever made. HANDS DOWN. I think it has something to do with this special ingredient:

DSCN3702 (800x600)

Not only was this a super flavorful chili, it made for a very inexpensive meal.

To get the full recipe? Head on over to Grocery Outlet’s Bargainista Blog!

Roasted Red Pepper and Tomato Bisque Recipe: Bargainsta Blog

DSCN3490 (800x600)This month, I created a delicious, winter-friendly soup for Grocery Outlet’s Bargainista Blog! I decided to update the classic tomato soup by incorporating roasted red peppers! Instead of a grilled cheese sandwich, I added french bread toast float, topped with sharp cheddar and finished under the broiler.

The result? A dinner that’s filling, delicious and still easy on the budget.

I wanted to remind you that Grocery Outlet is having another 3-day 20% off ALL wine sale starting today (December 20) through December 22nd! Thanks to this sale, you can usually find many really good quality wines for $5 and under! Here’s an example of some of the wines I found during the last wine sale:

For more information about what to expect, please see my post on their last wine sale. If you’re making a trip, you might also want to check out these other smashing deals I spotted at my local Grocery Outlet earlier this week.

Grocery Outlet Wine Sale: 2 Days Left – and the Video I got roped into Making

I wanted to remind you that you only have a couple days left to take advantage of Grocery Outlet’s Semi-Annual 20% off Wine Sale!

The other day I hinted that I got roped into making a video at Grocery Outlet with my pal Christopher! I have it for you now to watch – you can see which wines I ended up buying. (On a personal note, I’m so glad I decided to wear makeup on this day – phew!)

Here it is:

The Riesling, by the way, is excellent!

It looks like the South Tacoma Grocery Outlet store is doing another FREE wine tasting tonight from 5:30 – 7:00 pm. Christopher will be serving up samples of Bourdeaux wine from France. Combine the FREE wine tasting with the FREE Redbox rental code I shared yesterday and I’d say you’ve got a date night on the cheap tonight!

Make sure to check out my post about some of the wines I found on sale a couple days ago as well as deals throughout the store.

Are you shopping this sale? I’d love to hear what you think!

Grocery Outlet: Wine Sale starts NOW + Deals from Today’s Trip

DSCN2423 (522x800)

DSCN2423 (522x800)Did you know Grocery Outlet has a 20% off wine sale twice a year? The fall event started today (11/6) and runs through 11/10 only, but you’ll want to hurry for the best selection.

These wines are already on deep discount from what you’d pay at other area retailers, so to get 20% is like the icing on the cake! My South Tacoma store goes all out for this sale. Just look for the giant wine bottle with balloons on 56th street driving past!

DSCN2424 (800x659)

If you’re local, you might be interested to know that tonight they’re having a free wine tasting from 5:30 – 7pm (South Tacoma store location). They’ll be featuring Washington Wines, so this would be a good time to check out the sale and try before you buy. (Obviously, this is for 21+ customers and you’ll want to have a valid driver’s license handy!)

DSCN2457 (692x800)

Store manager Christopher is very enthusiastic about wine – and this wine sale! It’s pretty clear he wants you to know that you can save 20% on ALL wine right now! And if you don’t know a thing about wine? Just look for him and ask! He’s super friendly and knowledgeable. He always makes good recommendations for me. As a matter of fact, I shot an impromptu video with him today in the store chatting about the wines I ended up buying. I think the video should be up at the South Tacoma Grocery Outlet Facebook page sometime today, so you can follow them on Facebook to keep an eye out for that!

winesaleI wanted to give you an idea of the kind of prices you can find right now under this sale… a $3.99 Riesling (elsewhere $10.99!), a sweet red for $3.99 (elsewhere $7.99)…and I picked up a fancy pants bottle of red wine for $4.99 (elsewhere $14.99). After the 20% discount, the $3.99 bottles dropped to $3.19 and the $4.99 to $3.99! No coupon needed, no limit.

I did want to highlight the best wine deal I found today:

DSCN2443 (800x646)This Black Box Moscato was selling for just $5.99! After the discount, you’d pay $4.79. Elsewhere you’d pay as much as $21.99. In fact, Christopher showed me a photo he’d snapped of this SAME wine at another nearby grocery store (which shall remain unnamed!) that was selling for $16 (on sale). Here’s why this is such a good deal – that one box holds the equivalent of FOUR 750 ml wine bottles. So that’s like paying about $1.20 per bottle of wine. Plus, this pack stays tidy in your fridge and fresh for up to 4 weeks. Awesome for holiday entertaining!

While there, I found a few additional stellar deals in the store I wanted to share with you.

DSCN2429 (800x688)

Physician’s Formula Organic Wear: $2.99!

DSCN2430 (600x800)

Project Runway Lipstick: $1.99! (Sidebar: I actually did buy this for myself. If you bump into me out and about, try not to confuse me for Heidi Klum. Sidebar 2: I actually wrote a coupon spoof on Project Runway a couple years ago, complete with an appearance for Tim Gunn. If you like Project Runway, you pretty much need to check it out.)

DSCN2431 (800x764)

I also found a box of Revlon nail art for $1.50 each – elsewhere, pay as much as $9.99.

DSCN2433 (525x800)

Hairbrushes: $0.99.  Seems like there were lots of extra good deals today in the beauty department!
DSCN2445 (800x600)

Stix: Gluten-free crisps for $0.99. I bought a bag of these and I think they are pretty tasty.

DSCN2449 (800x669)

Muller Yogurt: $0.33 each. This stuff is good if you’ve not tried it yet. I usually find it priced for about $1 elsewhere.

DSCN2454 (697x800)

Sara Lee Cracked Pepper Turkey Breast. So this seemed like a REALLY good deal to me! The package I’m holding was roughly 2.25 lbs and was selling for $7.95! It looked like really nice deli meat you could carve.

DSCN2447 (800x778)Immaculate Baking Scones & Biscuits: $1.49. These contain no GMOs or trans fats and are generally much more expensive in the stores!

DSCN2436 (800x538)

Heinz gravy is advertised as buy one, get one free this week. I was wondering if the letter next to the product was to retract the offer…

DSCN2435 (800x569)

But no. It was actually a letter stating that the actual deal was better than advertised: two jars of gravy for $1 total, not $1.99. That put a smile on my face.DSCN2434 (800x496)

Kids’ Arts & Crafts sets: $4.99. These would make nice holiday gifts to add to toy drives!DSCN2456 (800x635)Oster Breadmaker: $29.99 (elsewhere: $89.99). This is a very good reason why you should make sure to check all the aisles at Grocery Outlet high and low. This puppy was sitting on the very top shelf of the housewares aisle.

Have you found any great Grocery Outlet deals lately? Will you be shopping the 20% off wine sale?

Grocery Outlet Semi-Annual 20% Wine Sale: Starts November 6!

gowine

gowine

Grocery Outlet’s semi-annual 20% off wine sale will start next week, November 6 and run through November 10th.

If you like wine, this is a sale that’s definitely worth paying attention to. Grocery Outlet already has a nice selection of quality wines for a fraction of the price. During this sale, you’ll automatically save 20% on ALL wines you buy – no limit and no coupon required! I also appreciate that they do NOT jack up the prices just prior to the sale. It is very, very easy to find wine for as low as $2 – 3 bottle with this sale!

Here are just a couple of examples of wine prices I’ve noted in the past. (Today’s prices and selection may vary.)

100_8335 (600x800)Big Hat Chardonnay: $6.99 (elsewhere: $22.99). After the 20% off sale, $5.59!

100_5710 (800x749)

Pine & Post Chardonnay: $3.99 (elsewhere:  $8.99). After the 20% off sale, you’d pay $3.19.

If you’ve not sure which wine to get? Just ask your Grocery Outlet employees! If you’re local, you can get good advice from this guy – Christopher – at the South Tacoma Grocery Outlet store.

100_0318 (800x600)

In fact, you may recall that back in the spring, my friend Haley & I had the opportunity to star in a Bargain Market TV video with Christopher. The topic? Wine pairings, of course!

groceryoutletvideoI’m told that this sale drives BIG traffic to Grocery Outlet! They are well prepared for this sale and will be stocking their shelves over the next week. This is a great time of year to stock up on wine for the holidays or other special events.

Remember: the sale runs November 6 – 10th! In the meantime, you might be interested to check out the current deals happening at Grocery Outlet - there are some really good ones!

Sausage & Pepper Mac ‘n Cheese Recipe + (2) $25 Grocery Outlet Winners Announced!

couponproject

couponproject

Since January, I’ve been writing a series for my pals Grocery Outlet over at their Bargainista Blog. The theme? Using different and frugal ingredients found at Grocery Outlet to break your dinner rut!

This month’s recipe is my absolute favorite, hands down. It’s inspired from a meal my good pal Haley brought to one of our recent freezer meal swap groups she called Not-your-average-mac-n-cheese. (You might remember Haley from our Grocery Outlet Wine Sale video and her Mommy and Me apron tutorial!). Haley’s Mac and Cheese included a homemade cheese sauce, sausage, and veggies. Using some ingredients I found for cheap at Grocery Outlet, I made my own version of this delicious meal. Not only did I make this dish for this month’s Bargainista Blog post, I also served it my family’s end-of-the-summer BBQ where it received rave reviews!

If you’re looking for a new spin on an old classic or something hearty for fall, make sure to check out my recipe for Sausage & Pepper Mac ‘n Cheese over at the Bargainista Blog!

Moses Lake Grocery Outlet

On the Road with Grocery Outlet: Moses Lake, WA Store

Moses Lake Grocery Outlet

Moses Lake Grocery OutletOn the last day of our family’s roadtrip, I stopped in at the Moses Lake Grocery Outlet for a final store tour! This was also the final place we stopped before heading home and truth be told, I was a bit tired. I was kind of hoping to pop in and out and cross it off my list. The store is also easy to miss – it’s on the backside of a bowling alley and definitely humbler in appearance than some of the other stores I’d visited previously.

But what I wasn’t expecting? Was Kris, the store owner, and her bubbling enthusiasm for what she does.

DSCN0847 (800x667)

This wall immediately caught my attention. Kris told me that she runs a monthly coloring contest at her store for the kids! She then asked my kids’ names and when their birthdays were. When they mentioned April and May, she said – “well, we missed your birthdays then! And we do a birthday club here at the store!”

DSCN0851 (612x800)

Yup. This is the only Grocery Outlet I’ve come across that has a birthday club for the kiddos. If this is your store – ask about it at checkout and they’ll get your kids on their mailing list. When it’s their birthday, they will receive a postcard in the mail. Bring it to the store and Kris or one of her employees will get your kiddo a bag full o’ prizes.

Couer d'Alene Grocery Outlet

On the Road with Grocery Outlet: Couer d’Alene, Idaho Store

Couer d'Alene Grocery Outlet

Couer d'Alene Grocery Outlet

During our family road trip in August, we had the chance to stop in and check out 5 different Grocery Outlet stores along the way. It was such an interesting experience as each store is independently owned and operated. While each store has its own distinct look and feel, the one thing that was definitely consistent across all stores? The passion the Grocery Outlet store owners had for their business!

I had the chance to meet with store owner of the Couer d’Alene store, Steve, and he was definitely no exception to this. Both he and his wife, Sarena, have been with Grocery Outlet since 1984 and running their store since 2005. Like most Grocery Outlet store owners, they are very involved in their community supporting local food banks, kids’ sports teams, schools and more.

DSCN0814 (800x600)One thing that stood out to me when I entered the store was the big display of supplements and protein powder. My husband noted on the way out of town that there was a large supplement chain-store down the street. Grocery Outlet stores definitely compete with other stores in their area. The Boise store I visited a few days prior had a huge focus on organics because their market demanded it and because there were several other high-end grocery stores in their area.

If you’re curious to know what you might find at a good price at Grocery Outlet? Consider some of the stores around it that might be competing!

DSCN0809 (800x600)

In another prominent display area in the front, I found all kinds of furniture! See the wicker ottoman and those dining chairs? They were just $14.99 each!

On the Road with Grocery Outlet: Twin Falls, Idaho Store

twinfalls

twinfalls

While on our family road trip, I’ve been stopping to visit different Grocery Outlet stores. Each store is independently owned and operated and I can tell you after visiting a few of them, each has its own unique flavor!

Several days ago now I had the chance to pop into the Twin Falls, Idaho store. (And thank goodness I had downloaded my pictures before my camera went missing in Salt Lake City – phew!)

Craig and his wife Judy have been running Grocery Outlet stores since 1991. I have to say, most of the store owners I’ve met have been working for Grocery Outlet awhile. I had the chance to chat with Craig about his store, and he is a totally friendly guy! Make sure to say “hi” if you stop by!

DSCN2886 (600x800)

To the left of the store is the wine department. If you like wine and you’ve not checked out Grocery Outlet yet? You’re missing out! You can always find a great bottle of wine for a fraction of the cost. Many of these wines are the same ones you’d pay full price for at other supermarkets.

DSCN2893 (800x600)I loved the produce department at this store! It was well laid out, and big!

DSCN2894 (800x600)Also, wide aisles! Not all Grocery Outlet stores are as spacious as this, so I definitely take note when I see the wide aisles.

I also happened upon a few stellar deals during my visit I just want to bring to your attention…

DSCN2897 (600x800)Planters Nut-rition peanut butter for just $0.99! The ones on sale were special flavors such as chocolate cherry and banana granola. Most likely these were flavors that just didn’t do well at other grocery stores. This is why you’ll often find different flavors at Grocery Outlet at extreme discounts like this. (Remember the diet lime Pepsi for $1.99 a 12-pack at the Boise store I shared?)

DSCN2896 (800x600)Bear Naked Double Chocolate Cookies for $1.99. You’d normally pay $4+ elsewhere for these!

DSCN2901 (800x600)Horizon Milk Singles for $0.50 each! We picked up a couple of these for the kids – they love them.

DSCN2902 (800x600)I truly think one of the best kept secrets in skin care? Is Grocery Outlet! I can’t recall a time I’ve not found some sort of high-end spendy skin care products on their aisles being sold at deep discount. The Protina products pictured above normally range in price from $35.00 – $55.00, but here you’d pay $4.99!!

DSCN2898 (600x800)My son loved finding this display of seeds for $0.50 each – notice that some of them are organic, too! He just loves gardening and is hoping for his own raised bed next year. (Yup, I’m proud!)

DSCN2905 (800x600)This store has an awesome housewares section that’s worth checking out. I found several different pieces for furniture selling for about $25 each.

DSCN2906 (800x600)My kids also spied the great toy section of this store! Did you know Grocery Outlet sells toys? They often have brands you’d recognize too, such as Barbie and Hot Wheels.

While we didn’t buy any toys, we did end up spending about $60 and saving $40 to stock up our car with more road trip food. We’ve had at least a couple days where we’ve been able to skip a meal and just eat what we’d found at Grocery Outlet! It’s also been nice to have a cooler we could stock with water bottles and juice so we could avoid over-priced snacks and beverages.

All in all? I loved my visit to the Twin Falls store! If this is your neck of the woods, you can check out their store page as well as follow them on Facebook.

On the Road with Grocery Outlet: Boise, Idaho

groceryoutletboise

groceryoutletboise

My family and I are stopping into a number of Grocery Outlet stores while on our road trip. On our first day, we had the chance to check out the Bend, Oregon store which I totally recommend!

Just before rolling out of Boise, I popped into the Boise Grocery Outlet store to meet with the store owners, Jason and Amanda, and tour their store.

DSCN2840 (637x800)Each Grocery Outlet store is independently owned and operated, so you’re really supporting a local business when you shop Grocery Outlet! Jason and Amanda were just the friendliest couple, passionate about Grocery Outlet, and knowledgeable about their business. They’ve been operating their store since 2001. I loved this statement about them and their store, that I found on the store website:

Jason and Amanda love the freedom that comes with operating their own Grocery Outlet, as well as the family values it promotes. They give back to their community in many different ways—some of them include donations to schools and after school programs, Habitat for Humanity, Pace for the Cure, as well as various programs promoting cancer research. Jason and Amanda give everything they can from the goodness of their hearts and feel gratified when customers show their appreciation, which happens almost daily!

Their store was pretty great too! They understand that the market in Boise really cares about eco-friendly and organic products, so they responded by devoting an entire wall in the front of the store to organic:

DSCN2839 (600x800)You’ll also find great prices on these items!

DSCN2846 (800x560)The store is well-laid out and clean.

DSCN2848 (800x596)As a mom to two kiddos, I also noticed the extra-wide aisles right away.

DSCN2844 (800x589)I also found some specific deals for you at the Boise, Idaho store!

DSCN2837 (782x800)Diet Lime Pepsi, 12 pack for $1.99. I think this was probably a case of this flavor not selling well at another supermarket, so Grocery Outlet was able to sell the surplus. If you’re willing to try out some of these different flavors, you can score some great deals!

DSCN2854 (600x800)Here’s another example of things you might find at the Boise, Idaho Grocery Outlet: slightly irregular or “blooper” items. Here you have a 2-pack of Hanes T-Shirts for just $3.99.

DSCN2859 (800x600)Really nice selection of Amy’s products! The macaroni & cheese were $1.99 – which is about 50% off or more from other stores. (These are really good, by the way! They have dairy-free and also gluten-free varieties.)

DSCN2851 (800x600)

I have noticed this at a few Grocery Outlets now, so it’s probably worth mentioning. Look for summer items on clearance! The Boise store had a nice display in the front of the store.

DSCN2852 (800x600)

Check out this sweet bird feeder – $4! I know it’s towards the end of summer, but why not pick it up and hang onto it for Mother’s Day 2014?

DSCN2858 (800x690)As you might expect from Grocery Outlet, they also have “wow” prices on cheese. Check out these goat cheese varieties I found for just $1.49. Elsewhere, you’d expect to pay more than $7 each!

DSCN2838 (800x618)

The produce was displayed prominently in the store and looked fresh. Plus, the prices were great. We’ve managed to eat through two containers of the Welch’s grapes during our trip, and have a couple more in the cooler. They’ve been a perfect road trip food.

If you live in or around the Boise area, I definitely recommend you pop into the Boise Grocery Outlet store. You can also follow them on Facebook. If you see the store owners Jason or Amanda, make sure to say “hi” and tell them I sent you! They are just the friendliest people and I could see why folks would make this their neighborhood grocery store.

Visit to Grocery Outlet in Bend, Oregon | The Coupon Project

On the road with Grocery Outlet: Bend, Oregon

Visit to Grocery Outlet in Bend, Oregon | The Coupon Project

Visit to Grocery Outlet in Bend, Oregon | The Coupon Project

My family and I are officially on the road for our Yellowstone trip! The day before leaving, I stopped by my local Grocery Outlet store to stock up the car with snacks and drinks to save some money.

Each Grocery Outlet store is independently owned and operated, so I thought it would be a neat idea to stop by several different stores during our trip and see what each one had to offer. Yesterday, we had the opportunity to stop at the Grocery Outlet store in Bend, Oregon. Unfortunately we rolled into town late in the day and I missed my opportunity to meet the store owner Randy. (I’m sorry, Randy!) The store employees were nice enough to let me poke around and take pictures in his absence. (Thanks, guys!)

Let me give you a little tour around and show you some of the things that stood out to me about my visit.

DSCN2677 (800x600)

First, they had a really nice back to school display in the front of the store! They even carried backpacks, which isn’t something I’d necessarily consider Grocery Outlet carrying. Kind of  a nice surprise.

DSCN2678 (600x800)They had a very nice selection of health and beauty prices at really low prices. If you’ve never been to a Grocery Outlet store, I’d definitely recommend you hit up the health and beauty aisle – there are always stellar deals to be had.

DSCN2679 (800x600)So this was probably the best surprise at the Bend, store: the clothing racks! Upon closer inspection, we realized there were some name-brand items, too:

DSCN2681 (800x773)Check out this find:

DSCN2682 (800x600)Um, Calvin Klein jeans for $9.99? Yes please!

Grocery Outlet Bend, OR Produce I was also very impressed with their produce display! Everything looked fresh, and there were some organic offerings in the mix too, which was nice to see. Sometimes people are surprised when I mention Grocery Outlet as a good source of organic deals – but it’s true!

DSCN2683 (800x600)While there, we picked up a few things for our road trip. The kids eyed these snack packs for $2.99. There are 12 in each box which works out to $0.25/bag!

DSCN2684 (800x605)We have also brought along a cooler, so we picked up some juice and water bottles, along with a container of strawberries and grapes.

DSCN2690 (800x737)The kids had been asking for one of those huge bags of Cheetos, but I wasn’t such a fan of having that in the car. (I was envisioning the mess, the cheesy fingers, and the kids going to town on them!) I thought these individual bags of Barbara’s Cheese Puffs were a better alternative. Plus, just $0.33 a bag!

DSCN2685 (800x745)I was also super excited to find these organic apple snacks from Earthbound Farm for $0.50 each! We picked up a couple.

DSCN2680 (800x600)I thought I’d share one more hot find at the Bend, Oregon store – these Bella S’mores and Mini Cupcake Makers were just $7.99 each! These would make nice gifts. I’ve been paying more attention lately to the housewares aisle of Grocery Outlet. Check it out – you never know exactly what you might find there.

Overall, I found the Bend, Oregon store well laid out with lots of great deals. While I’m sorry to have missed meeting the store owner, the vibe from the employees there was definitely friendly and welcoming. The store was clean and I have to say, I appreciated the wide aisles and easy access to parking!

If you live in or around the Bend, Oregon Grocery Outlet, I hope you’ll check them out! You can visit their store’s web page and follow them on Facebook to stay updated with store happenings and specials.

Stay tuned…. I’ll be hitting up a couple Idaho Grocery Outlet stores later this week and will let you know what I find out!

Bacon & Egg Casserole: This Month’s Grocery Outlet Post

Since January, I’ve been running a series of posts over at Grocery Outlet’s Bargainista Blog entitled “Breaking out of the Dinner Rut.” The concept? Using inexpensive ingredients found at Grocery Outlet to break past the mind-numbing drudgery of making the same old, same old meals.

This month I shared one of my family’s favorite recipes… it’s easy, it requires only a few ingredients, and it can be made on a budget.

A Few Finds at Grocery Outlet & (2) $25 Gift Card Giveaway!

DSCN2067 (600x800)

I stopped in at Grocery Outlet yesterday to work on this month’s Bargainista Blog post (stay tuned for what I came up with!), and I found a few things worth reporting.

DSCN2067 (600x800)

Sara Lee Cracked Pepper Turkey: $1.99 (elsewhere $6.49)

DSCN2068 (800x600)Mori-Nu Tofu: $0.99 (elsewhere $1.99)

DSCN2069 (750x800)Pasta Butternut Squash Ravioli $1.97 (elsewhere $4.69). This was about to expire – but it would be perfect for making dinner tonight (or possibly, freezing).

DSCN2070 (800x600)Yoplait Yogurt for $0.33 each. I actually bought a few of these and the kids are loving them!

DSCN2071 (800x600)

Chobani Greek Yogurt: $1.99 (elsewhere $4.39). They had a few flavors available; I took home the pineapple.

DSCN2072 (800x600)Annies Variety Snack Mix, 30-ct: $7.99 (elsewhere $13.99). This works out to $0.27 per bag! I’m thinking I may need to pick one up for our upcoming roadtrip. These would also be good for school lunches.

DSCN2073 (800x600)Cafe Coffee with Cream to Go, 10-ct: $2.99 (elsewhere $6.99)

DSCN2076 (800x600)TreeTop Apple Juice, 3 pack: $0.79 (elsewhere $1.49). My Grocery Outlet always seems to have good deals for kids’ juice boxes!

DSCN2077 (800x600)Greenlite Indoor Reflectors $0.50 (elsewhere $3.99)

If you’re new to Grocery Outlet? You should know that each store is independently owned and operated. This means that you might find the layout, stock, and items vary from store to store. Because Grocery Outlet gets deep discounts from manufacturers and stores for their items, they do not allow coupons. I know this may be disappointing to my couponers out there, but it’s also refreshing to shop at a store getting low prices without having to remember your coupons. Grocery Outlet does put out store coupons from time to time and I encourage you to sign up for their weekly ads for access to those!

Enter the Giveaway

Two lucky Coupon Project readers will win each with a $25 Grocery Outlet gift card! The gift card can be used for anything in the store – from the health and beauty items, produce, even the wine department!

To enter, simply leave a comment on this blog post. For fun, tell me your thoughts about Grocery Outlet…. perhaps share a great deal you’ve seen, maybe a deal that stands out to you on my list above, or let me know if I’ve managed to convince you to visit a Grocery Outlet yet! Limit one comment per reader, please.

This contest will run through Tuesday, August 20th at 8pm PST. The winners will be randomly selected from all comment entries left and notified shortly thereafter via email. (So make sure to leave a valid email address you actually check)!
