This Saturday (August 19th), the Federal Way Ron Sandwith Teen Center (located at 31453 28th Ave. S., Federal Way, Washington) will be giving away free backpacks to kids in the community entering grades K-12. The child must be present in order to receive their backpack, and there is a limited number available. Free food, entertainment, and other resources will be available as part of this event.
My take: while the Federal Way Mirror didn’t say so explicitly, I am getting the impression is that the intention of this giveaway is to help those who truly need it and may be struggling to send their kids back to school with the necessary supplies. Please note that they are also looking for people who would like to donate and/or volunteer! I know I have so many couponers and bargain shoppers out there – so if any of you feel inclined to donate some of your supplies, this would be a worthy event. You can contact Talonya Gabriel, firstname.lastname@example.org for donation and volunteer information.
