Local Butchers and Sources for Organic & Grass-Fed Beef (Pierce-King Counties)

Some of you have been asking me for local butchers or farms where you could buy organic meat or maybe invest in buying a portion of a grass-fed cow. I’m on it!  There may be others – and if so, I’d love for you to leave that in the comment. In particular, farms you can buy direct from. (This was a bigger challenge to locate!)

Please note that this list does not mean I’m endorsing any of these places or that in fact, the meat there is the best quality. Consider this list as a resource to get you started. Make sure to do your own research on any of the places noted below. If you can vouch for any of these places? Feel free to leave your recommendation! Oh – and a huge thank you to contributor Sarah for her work and research to compile this list for you.

  1. Janet W. says

I’ve been to AA Meats in Lakewood – they have a good selection of meats and excellent jerky; however, they do not carry organics or grass fed.

I really like The Meat Shop on Vickery. They even have home-made bologna! Really good too! (for those who crave it, but can’t bring themselves to eat more preservatives and who knows what else…lol!!)

  2. Chandra says

Great info Ang! I bought our organic grass-fed cow from friends in Port Orchard. They are switching from beef cows to dairy cows for next season and so I am looking for new places to buy. They recommended Acres in Zion, and I was also perusing the EatWild site.
thanks to you and Sarah for the hard work gathering all this info! :)

  3. Kristina Linkem says

We have a small red angus beef farm, and sell to our friends and family. Our stock is too small to start selling beyond that, although that is our long-term goal. We believe in choosing our food wisely, which is what started this venture. Friends of ours raise pigs, and we exchange beef for pork. It’s a little pioneer style, but it blesses all ov us. There are a few local beef farmers, but you are right, hard to find. And there are many reasons for that. Check feed stores’flyer boards, even Craigslist.

    • arussell says

Well when you get ready to go beyond that, gimme a hollar and I’d be delighted to share it on the blog. 😉

    • Brandie Frazier says

We have our own beef as well and also have raised pigs. it is better knowing where your meat comes from. We also have chickens for eggs.

  4. Kassi says

I have shopped at B&E Meats for years. They are great. The Teriyaki Tri Tip is not to be beat. They have good products and are knowledgeable as well.

  5. says

We buy our grass-fed beef from Baron Farms (www.baronfarms.com). They are located in Wapato, WA and offer neighborhood delivery to lots of locations in the Puget Sound. They offer 1/8 share of a cow which is perfect for one family or just trying it out. Thanks for a great list.

  6. Ann says

Hi, I’ve been visiting your site for about a month now. So glad I found someone from the NW with coupon deals. But really I find myself enjoying the everyday posts that have nothing to do with coupons. And even though my own daughter had a pink cowgirl Barbie jacket just like yours, I’ve learned a lot from all the readings.
So, I just wanted to say that here in OR one can buy “Painted Hills Natural Beef” in the grocery stores like Roth’s. I seen on thier site (http://www.natural-beef.com/) that there is lots of places in WA where it is sold also. We love this meat and sometimes it even goes on sale. Hope this helps someone out.

  7. says
