It’s time again for another feature of Stuff I didn’t know I needed…until I went to Costco! In this feature, I browse Costco’s aisles for an hour (or two… or three) and report back about the cool, delicious, new, and/or intriguing items that catch my eye. Some of these may be deals, yes – but many are simply things that caught my eye.
Without further ado, here’s what I spied on my recent trip to Costco:
These jackets are $14.99 for the kids and $18.99 for the adults. My son has one of the kid’s ones from last year and it’s really nice looking!
Men’s Adidas pants, just $19.99.
Behold! The first pumpkin-themed food item I’ve spotted this season! This Pumpkin Spice Life Cereal is on discount, through August 27th only. I wonder if it’s any good?
Huskies-themed sweatshirt for $21.99.
I liked these foodie serving trays. Through August 27th, you get 2 for $9.99. I’m picturing… street tacos, fancy cheeses and dried fruit… other thoughts?
Chicken Shawarma for $3.99 per pound.
Need some new lamps? This set of 2 was $69.99.
OK so this item got me. I actually noticed it last month, but couldn’t resist. I ended up buying 2 of these for my kids. These mood light alarm clocks also play nature sounds (think thunder, ocean, forests) that you can set the timer for. They also have different light colors to choose from. I paid $24.99 per clock and while that was a splurge, my kids were both excited to have these!
Air filters… $29.99 for a 3-pack. That’s a good deal!
I was intrigued by this fryer I spotted on an end cap. Why? Because it doesn’t use oil! It’s an air fryer! I would love to try the flavor of these fried items (if you can even call them that). It’s $89.99.
The Halloween items have started to move more into the central aisles at my store. I’m sure in the next few weeks they’ll ramp up even more. I found these 80-ct bags of Play-Doh for $13.99 (that works out to $0.17 per tub).
Ahoy! It’s a pirate skeleton!
This deal really caught my eye. It’s a set of Off! bug spray for just $9.99 (through 9/3). It includes 2 larger sprays, 1 smaller, and also some towelettes. As someone who contract Lyme last year, you bet I picked this up!
These High Sierra backpacks are on sale through 8/26 for just $15.99! We picked up a couple of these last year for our kids and they’ve been awesome!
Mix & Match Danishes for just $6.49 through 8/27.
Mini Croissants for about $7. Chocolate filled!
I love these large mirrors… they were selling for $129.99 at my store.
This office chair was sooo comfortable and at $129.99 right now, I think it’s a total steal. I’m headed back to buy one because I desperately need a better office chair for my poor back!
My store was featuring a number of furniture pieces in seasonal, such as these dining room tables. The patio furniture is pretty well gone by now and you can sense that they will soon be shifting to holiday items.
Now this is a first for me. I’ve never seen hot tubs being sold at Costco! I’m guessing this is a special event.
These were like sleeping bags, with stuffed animals sewed in and were priced around $20-25.
Sodastream Sparkling Water Machine for $59.99 after instant manufacturer’s rebate.
I’m thinking this would be a great option for kids’ party favors and/or stocking stuffers! For $12.69, you get 20 puzzles. This works out to just $0.63 per puzzle. Each puzzle had 25 or 50 pieces and featured characters like Trolls, Frozen, Spider-Man, Moana, Cars, and much more.
I found this chicken mushroom pasta in the refrigerated section for $6.99 (through 8/27). I didn’t end up buying it, but it did look good!
Check out this item I found on my way to checkout: it’s a Washington State Fair Season Pass for $24.99! (You might wish to compare this to the other deals we’ve been reporting on for the Fair.)
I have to say, the day I visited it was a very good sample day! I had two different kinds of hot dogs, Chicago Mix popcorn, cheese pizza, and a chicken chimichunga! WOW!
All told, I spent $88 on my trip. I bought two of the mood light/alarm clock things, some snacks for my book club that evening, and the Off! bug spray. Anytime I can come out having spent $100 or less, I think I’ve had a good day at Costco!
