Did you have fun shopping at Albertsons this past week? Kim sure did! Check out this picture she sent me last night:
She writes that three pizzas are not pictured from the photo.
Here’s a breakdown of her trip:
Shelf cost: $144.61
My savings: $110.31
Out of pocket cost: $34.30
Percent saved: 77%
Way to go, Kim! Thanks for sharing your trip! Watch tonight as I’ll update you with the new Albertsons deals for the week. Want to be inspired? Reader Tiffany shared her awesome Target shopping trip with me! Check it out…
Here’s her breakdown:
(4) Schick Hydro… (4) $5/1 manufacturer’s coupons and (4) $4/1 Target coupons
(2) Bear Naked Granola… B1G1 manufacturer’s coupon (2) $0.50/1 Target coupons
(1) Aquafresh Kid’s Toothpaste… $1/1 manufacturer’s coupon and $0.50/1 Target coupon
After the overage Tiffany received on the Hydro razors, her subtotal was $0.00, and she paid $1.62 in tax. She writes: “This will keep a smile on my face all day!”
Please note that your results with overage at Target (and other retailers) may vary. Stores may mark down the value of your coupon to prevent overage, and some stores may refuse you using them altogether (though this is less common).
Speaking of Target, I’m anticipating that the toy clearance should hit 75% either sometime today or tomorrow. I’ll keep you posted with any rumors.

Remember the Kellogg’s promotion that was running at Albertsons last week?
Reader Lacey was able to take advantage! Here’s her pic:

She was able to get 8 Kellogg’s items, Olay, dishwashing soap, and a Crest for under $8 doing two transactions! Her total savings was nearly $40!
If you’re wondering about the cute furry friend who wandered his way into the picture, Lacey tells me his name is Enzo. Apparently “he just wanted to be a part of it.” Even man’s best friend can smell a good deal from a mile away!
I love getting your deal stories and pictures! If you have one you’d like to send me for consideration for an upcoming post, please do email me at thecouponproject at hotmail dot com!

Did you know that when shopping at Rite Aid you can use a buy one, get one free coupon on a buy one, get one free sale to essentially get both items for free?
That’s exactly what reader Julie did last week at Rite Aid to end up only paying $1.01 in tax for everything pictured! Julie titled her email to me “I can’t believe I used to pay for this stuff!” Liberating, ain’t it?
You might recall back in March I did the same thing (BOGO coupon on BOGO sale) to score 6 items of Cover Girl cosmetics for free.
If you’re new to shopping at Rite Aid, you may want to print, review, and hang onto a copy of their Coupon Policy for handy referencing. You can then head on over to my Rite Aid deals for the week to plan an outing!

I have a particularly amazing reader shop to share with you today.
Jessica tells me she bought the following at Rite Aid over 2 days and 6 transactions:

Guess how much ALL of this cost her? Try $1.08 out of pocket!! Yes, you read that right! And that includes the diapers and batteries…everything.
EDITED: I went back to Jessica’s email and it appears the $1.08 is AFTER rebates and UP Rewards.
The tax alone should’ve cost her over $11.
Way to go, Jessica!
I think this illustrates that it is entirely possible to stockpile without breaking the bank.
See what’s on sale at Rite Aid this week for yourself.

Reader Angela (great name, huh?) emailed me yesterday that she hearts Rite Aid so much.
Here’s why:

Angela paid LESS THAN ONE DOLLAR for everything shown.
But it gets better.
She still has $10 in Rite Aid UP Rewards.
But it gets better.
She is gearing up to submit for $8.99 in rebates.
So, that’s about an $18 money-maker. Yeah, I’d heart Rite Aid, too, Angela. A LOT.

Alas, there are no CVS stores in my neck of the woods!
But lucky reader Twila has one near her so she was able to complete the shopping trip below:

The total before coupons and ECBs (I understand this stands for “Extra Care Bucks”) was $28. But after? Twila paid just $0.74 for everything pictured!
Even better, she had a gift card on hand, so she actually paid ZILCH out of pocket.
Even better, after the ECBs she received, this turned into a $2.26 money-maker!
Twila writes that she started couponing in September and that she loves it! (Well, you might have guessed it, but I do too!)

I had a reader email me yesterday…let’s call her Mary.
Here’s what she’s been doing since starting to save money on her family’s groceries:
I’ve been taking the money that I’ve been saving at the grocery store… and putting it into my credit card debt. Since I’ve started I’ve been able to pay off 3 credit cards (the insanely high interest ones… woo hoo). Grant it, I had been working hard at paying these ones off for a while, but the balance quickly went to 0 after pouring all the extra money into them. That is 3 less payments that I’m making each month and it feels really stinking good.
This is awesome to me! Those coupons and sales really CAN add up to save your family big bucks!
I probed a bit more (nosy gal that I am) and learned that Mary has actually slashed her grocery bill in half and about $200 per month is now going to help reduce her credit card balances. She also shared how for her, the advantage of couponing is exactly this – to get out of debt, not to get more stuff. Mary, I agree! I coupon to keep our family living within our means. The fact we end up with a decent amount of stuff, and GOOD stuff, is a side benefit in my opinion.
I was glad to hear her story and thought I’d ask…what have YOU been doing with your savings?

Reader Shannon scored big at Walgreens and Rite Aid this week!
Check out the picture she sent me:

At Walgreens, she spent $6.61 out of pocket, but earned a $4 Register Reward. She saved $38.10 off her trip.
At Rite Aid, she spent $5.97 out of pocket, but will be getting back $5.99 in rebates. So she made two cents!
Total: $2.59 after Register Reward and rebate for EVERYTHING pictured!
Shannon has only been couponing for three months. I love seeing the success new-to-coupon users are getting!

Who else is just LOVING the drugstore deals this week? If you don’t know what I’m talking about, you’ll have to check out my Walgreens and Rite Aid posts later.
My friend Becca sent me a picture of her amazing Rite Aid trip yesterday. She did two transactions. Here’s her finds:

She writes:
I bought all the following for $20.29 (including tax) or $16.86 (before tax) OOP, but after rebates I will have spent $5.31 (including tax) or $1.88 (w/out tax). Between 2 transactions, coupons & rebates I will have saved $44.98. Want to be wow-ed some more? Be sure to check out reader pics on
The Coupon Project’s Facebook page. There are some seriously amazing couponers out there…you know who you are!

Pretty fantastic to me, Becca! I always love how diapers and training pants end up cheaper at Rite Aid when you buy other stuff with them. Anyone else notice this phenomenon, too?
