What is the iBotta app and how does it earn you cash back on your groceries?

I’ve been hearing a lot of talk about a new app called iBotta and I’m guessing you might have heard about it too. Although I don’t personally own a smartphone, I wanted to take the time out to learn more about this app since many of you do and it sounds like a way you can save even more money on top of sales and coupons you already use.

Once you’ve signed up for iBotta (it’s FREE), you can earn cash back by doing small tasks for the items you plan on buying at select stores. These tasks may include things such as playing a trivia, watching a video, taking a poll, or sharing on Facebook. You’ll know ahead of time the amount of cash you’ll receive back for the tasks you choose to do.

Currently, the app is good at the following stores: Target, Walmart, Kroger, Safeway, Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid, Meijer, Fred Meyer, Pavilions, Tom Thumb, Stop & Shop, Pick ‘n Save, Dominicks, Fry’s, Smith’s, ShopRite, Dillons, H-E-B, Publix, King Soopers, Ralphs, Vons, Duane Reade. Frugal Living NW also reported yesterday that WinCo has been added. My guess is that it will continue to expand!

Here’s how to get started:

  • Sign up for your FREE iBotta account using this invitation link
  • Download the app on your iPhone or Android phone through the app store
  • Open the app and choose the products you intend to buy and complete the tasks
  • From there, you’ll need to purchase the item(s) listed on the app, “redeem” and take a picture of your receipt
  • When your account hits $5, you’ll be paid via your PayPal account. That’s it!

Here’s reason to get started with this NOW: for a limited time only, you’ll receive a $5 cash bonus when you’ve successfully redeemed your first offer!

While I’ve not tried to use it myself, I’m sharing it with you now because of the good reports I’m hearing about how user friendly it is to use and how lucrative the cash back offers are. In the next few days, I’ll do my best to borrow my hubby’s iphone and give it a try myself. In the meantime, I would love it if those of you that are able to would give it a try and report back! I’d love to hear YOUR experience.

I’m going to do my best to learn more myself to start including iBotta deals here at The Coupon Project.

Thanks to This Beautiful Frugal Life, Frugal Living NW, and The Frugal Find for filling this non-smartphone user in on what’s up with iBotta!

My husband just found this app. I have it on my phone and did activities for several items but haven’t taken a trip to the grocery store and tried it yet.

All sorts of grocery items or beauty products or home products stuff that you ACTUALLY buy. So its a great deal because you are getting cash back for really doing nothing.

I was really reluctant, because it just seemed like one more thing to manage. Once I tried it though, it is super easy to use and VERY user-friendly. My main problem will be remembering to actually redeem my offers, but using your fab savings tracker will hopefully jog my memory. :)

** If you want to get the $5 for making your first purchase you need to FIRST be invited before you download The app** Copy this link: http://ibotta.com/r/qHACPw
and sign up before you download the app. I’m new to Ibotta as well so I’m looking forward to more money in my wallet! Happy Shopping!

I love the app! But I do have one question. If you use all the offers in on day will you have more offers the next day?

This app is really user-friendly. You can scan the barcodes on the items at the store to make sure you’re buying the right item that matches the coupon. :) Once you buy your item, you just take a picture of your reciept, and you might need to take a couple of pictures if your reciept is long. It also asks you to scan the barcode from your product and then after that, you just submit it. It only takes me a few minutes to do all of the above and I do it while I put my groceries away.

And yes, once you use one of the offers, it gives you another one.

I have made about $30 back on purchases so far. I find this app very user friendly. I got in the habit of uploading and scanning the purchase ASAP. Once you get $5 accumulated you can request your payout to PayPal . My only complaint is after using it about 3 weeks, there is not a big variety in new offers. I prefer ibotta to other apps ibotta is easier for me to manage.

This is probably the biggest downfall to current online gambling.
Baseball has a lower winning percentage but higher ROI becaause of
so many underdogs exclusivcely at Offshore – Insiders.
Pick a player you like the look of if you want – you’re lucky, a
lot of the top strikers are pretty-boys, but don’t let
it cloud your judgement and stop you investing in
    the slightly ‘plainer-looking’ players.

  8. Burger King says

Colossal waste of time if your don’t have purrfect looking receipt.

It is nearly impossible to redeem something at times because they love rejecting receipts that are poorly printed by grocery stores or Burger King where their receipt is filmy and unreadable.

Have fun was tin’ your time.
