I have been knee-deep in decluttering my house, and I’m following the Organized Simplicity method. I know that the Konmari method is getting a lot of attention right now thanks to the new Netflix show, but I hope you’ll consider the Organized Simplicity method as a good alternative too. Instead of working category by category, you work room by room – and rapidly.
Some of the principles discussed in the book:
- Taking time to think about how you want your space to function. What matters most to you?
- Decluttering room-by-room, where you remove EVERYTHING from the space (except the furniture) and deep clean.
- Intense, rapid approach to decluttering and organizing. If you are motivated and have the time to get it done quickly, THIS is your method. If you follow the book as written, you’ll have your entire house done in 10 days.
I followed this book several years ago and it worked. I’m now returning to this method as we’ve accumulated a fair amount of things over the years. I’m nearly done with the downstairs and will be tackling the bedrooms and home office next.
If you’re looking for a practical, inspirational book on decluttering your house quickly – consider nabbing this book.
