Through December 24th, Ancestry.com is offering their popular DNA test for just $59, down 40% from $99. This is a great opportunity to knock some Christmas gifts off your list! In addition, Ancestry.com gift subscriptions are 20% off.
AncestryDNA can estimate your origins from more than 350 regions around the world. From discovering your ethnicity to connecting with distant relatives, this test helps you uncover the people, places, and stories in your unique heritage.
Here’s a little bit more about the test:
- Once you place your order, you’ll receive the kit within a few days.
- Provide a saliva sample using the easy instructions and mail back using the pre-paid return mailer. (There are no additional costs beyond the original $59.)
- Your DNA is processed at the lab, and you’ll receive an email with the results when it’s ready (typically within 6-8 weeks).
Shipping adds $9.95 for the first kit, $4.95 for each kit thereafter.
I can recommend Ancestry because I actually completed a test myself a year or so ago! The kit comes in a box, all organized with easy-to-follow instructions. I loved that they provided you with regular updates on the status of your test and results. I have also gifted a couple tests and it was fun and interesting to see the results. You might want to read more about my own experience with Ancestry!
I want to share something interesting that happened recently. As more and more people have taken Ancestry DNA tests, the results have gotten fine-tuned. Both my husband and I logged into our accounts recently to find that our results had shifted a bit! Some of the results I had previously (like Iberian Peninsula and even Senegalese!) had disappeared. Other categories that had been broad (Scandinavian) are now narrowed down (Norwegian/Swedish). If you’ve taken an Ancestry test before, I encourage you to log into your account to see if anything has changed – this update was done at no additional cost to you. If you haven’t taken the test yet, you might be interested to learn that these kind of updates may happen over time as more results are collected. Here are my results as of now:
Remember, this sale is good through December 24th only. Head to Ancestry.com to learn more about the kind of results you can expect and to read personal stories from people who’ve received their results.
If you’ve completed one of the Ancestry.com DNA tests, I’d love to hear a little about your experience and/or results (if you’re willing to share!). Please leave a comment below
