To help you get a head start, here are some of the best places to hit to find the best deals on after-Christmas sales.

1. Amazon

Amazon is well-known for its good deals even on a non-sale day. Visit the site on a sale day and you may not believe the deals you’ll find.

Amazon is focusing on electronics for its after-Christmas sales this year.

Look for steep discounts on items such as:

Samsung tablets and laptops
Apple AirPods
Apple Watches
Select home security devices

…and more! You’ll also want to look for deals on appliances and kitchenware if you’re shopping on Amazon after Christmas.

Home décor products will also be steeply discounted; specifically, area rugs.

This is a good time to pick up kids’ birthday gifts in advance to save money.

Pottery Barn tends to make a mad dash to clear stores and online warehouses out of several items after Christmas.

Holiday-specific items such as stockings or tree skirts
Robes and slippers
Certain furniture pieces
Wreaths, garlands, and other botanicals

Stores like to make room for incoming spring themes and pieces, so it’s necessary to mark down winter items so spring promotions can begin.

Use the clearing out to your advantage and get amazing deals on Pottery Barn’s quality home items. Buy for your home or for the incoming year’s gift-giving needs.

Check the Pottery Barn website the day after Christmas, then look for additional markdowns in the days and weeks following Christmas.

3. PetSmart

If you have animals or love someone who does, you’ll want to check out the PetSmart after Christmas sale.

Markdowns begin the day after Christmas when you can find great deals (up to 75% off or more in some cases) on items such as:

Dog houses
Cat trees
Pet clothing
Treats
Pet toys

…and more! Keep an eye in-store and online for additional non-holiday-related sales and markdowns as well.

My favorite after-Christmas deal last year from PetSmart was when we found new cat trees for 60% off.

Visit online for the largest selection, but don’t forget to visit your local PetSmart store as well.

Managers have some flexibility on what they mark down, meaning you could find hidden deals at your local store.

Hint: PetSmart has terrific pre-Christmas sales too. Look for up to 50% off and more on Christmas-themed and other items, as well as shipping discounts.

4. Home Depot

Home Depot carries a large selection of Christmas décor items such as garlands, lights, ornaments, and Christmas trees.

Visit the store the day after Christmas to find markdowns of 50%, 75%, or more. If you can wait until the first of the year you may find items at up to 90% discounts.

Home Depot’s online store has additional items you might not find in-store, such as serving dishes, tableware, and more.

You can also find deals saving you hundreds on power tools and power tool sets. This is especially true if those power tools were sets designed specifically for the gift-giving season.

Note: Check the pre-Christmas sales too to get an early start.

Last but not least, don’t forget to keep your eyes open for amazing discounts on items such as snow blowers, shovels, roof rakes, and roof heating supplies.

One year we were able to get snow blowers for 50% off at Home Depot and give them as gifts to my dad and my brother thanks to the steep discounts.

5. Target

Target after-Christmas deals include 50% (and sometimes more) off of Christmas items including Christmas trees, ornaments, stockings, wrapping paper, candy, and more.

We bought the most beautiful Christmas tree at half off one year after Christmas, and we still have it today, over 20 years later.

$200 was too much for our budget at that time, but $100 was much more doable.

Christmas-themed clothing and home décor are also included in the markdowns. You can find discounts on gift sets designed especially for Christmas as well.

You may find beauty sets, kitchen sets, pajama sets, movie collections, and more. Check online as well as in-store for the latest markdowns–and shop early!

While Christmas décor items may not go as high as 75%-90% until January 1st, gift sets may be marked down earlier.

And don’t forget to keep your eyes peeled for Target’s January toy sale. Target likes to clear out leftover seasonal toys for discounts of 50% to 90%.

Shopping the January toy sale can be a great way to get super deals on kids’ 2022 birthday presents.

6. Walmart

Walmart is a must-do stop when you’re doing your after-Christmas shopping.

Find discounts of 50%, 75%, or more on items such as:

Wrapping paper and gift tags
Christmas trees and ornaments
Christmas décor items
Holiday-themed pajamas and other clothing

You can also expect healthy discounts on kitchenware and home décor items that were brought in to be marketed specifically for Christmas.

Paperware such as plates, tablecloths, plastic glasses, and utensils that carry a holiday design will also be on sale. So will holiday-themed food items.

Walmart is your best bet for finding discounts on those basic Christmas and holiday items. But don’t forget to check for big discounts on holiday targeted electronics and other items.

Big box stores bring in loads of merchandise to appeal to your gift-giving nature, and they’ll discount those items big time once the holidays are over.

You can find great deals at Walmart’s online store. However, I typically find the best deals when shopping at store locations. Just remember to shop early!

7. Bath & Body Works

Bath & Body Works has online and in-store shelves stocked and ready to go right after Christmas as part of its semi-annual sale.

Look for discounts of 75% or more on everything from Christmas selections to bath and body basics.

The semi-annual sale is a great time to stock up on Christmas décor items for next year and beyond. It’s also a great time to stock up on the basics you use every day.

Note that last year Bath & Body Works offered extra deals and discounts in-store. Online deals were limited mostly to 50% off.

However, in-store prices were even better, topping up to 90% off in some cases. If you’ve got a Bath & Body Works store location near you, shopping in-store is probably your best bet.

Remember to shop early as well–the early bird gets the best deals and the most savings. There’s often no limit to quantity purchases at these sales.

Buy as much as you need of hand soaps, body soaps, hand sanitizers, home fragrances, and more.

8. Ulta Beauty

Ulta Beauty is another store you’ll want to shop when working to find the best after-Christmas deals.

One of the best deals to find at Ulta when you shop after Christmas is on the stocking stuffer selection.

Ulta always has a massive selection of stocking stuffers, and they get steep discounts right after Christmas.

You can find everything from beauty maintenance tools to lip glosses to mini bottles of product in the stocking stuffer section.

Other holiday-targeted gift sets and products will be discounted as well, but you may need to wait until January to find the best deals on those items.

Your best bet is to check the Ulta website daily starting on December 26th and watch for the best deals.

Hint: Ulta usually puts out an after-Christmas coupon deal. Check the website for specifics, or look for your Ulta mailer if you’re on their mailing list.

9. Wayfair

Wayfair carries a variety of home items from appliances, to décor, furniture, and more. The store even carries pet items, baby and kid items, and organization pieces.

When you shop online at Wayfair, you can expect to find after Christmas deals such as:

Hundreds off of Roomba vacuums
Steep discounts on select air fryers
Up to 70% off of bedding and mattresses
Up to 70% off of select furniture items
Heavy discounts on select home décor items

Look for deals on area rugs and kitchen essentials as well. Note that Wayfair offers free shipping on any order over $35, so aim for at least that much in purchases.

Hint: Wayfair has some great pre-Christmas deals as well. Check the Wayfair website early to take advantage of those deals and to avoid missing out on early sellouts.

However, if you can hold out for after-Christmas sales you’ll get the deepest discounts.

10. Macy’s

Shopping at Macy’s during their after-Christmas sale can get you amazing deals on high-end clothing, shoes, and winter wear.

It’s always smart to check in-store and online deals right away on December 26th. But be sure to keep your eyes and ears open the entire last week of December.

Macy’s tends to give deep discounts on items such as boots, winter coats, winter accessories, and holiday-themed items during that final week of December.

You can get up to 75% off on names such as Ugg, DKNY, Michael Kors, and more. And don’t forget to shop for Christmas-themed items as well.

Christmas decorations and holiday kitchenware all go on sale at Macy’s during that last week in December too.

You may want to check the fine jewelry section for deep discounts as well. Join Macy’s Star Rewards program for free shipping, cashback on purchases, and other benefits.

11. Barnes & Noble

If you’re a book lover or know someone who is, you’ll want to be sure and visit the Barnes & Noble after Christmas sale.

Pre-Christmas, you’ll find deals at Barnes & Noble such as 30% off select books and buy one, get one 50% off books.

However, if you can wait until the last three or four days in December, you can get 50% or more off of select book titles, along with other deals.

Christmas gift sets and other holiday-themed items will see large discounts as the store makes room for new titles and other products.

Barnes & Noble gives free shipping to orders of $35 or more. You can choose curbside pickup at store locations too.

12. Pharmacy Stores

Last but not least, don’t forget to stop in at pharmacies such as Walgreens and CVS to find great after-Christmas deals.

Pharmacy stores will offer discounts of up to 75% on Christmas items such as candy, wrapping paper, Christmas cards, and more.

Sales start on December 26th, but the discounts get steeper as the days wear on. Gift sets such as beauty sets or wellness sets will be on sale as well.

Pharmacies typically have a small selection of toys for sale at Christmas, and they will go on sale that last week in December as well.
