This month, one of my focuses has been spring cleaning. If you’ve missed it, you might want to go check out the Spring Cleaning Bloggers Bash we’ve got going!
We just finished filing our taxes (read my post on how I use TurboTax if you missed it!), so it’s a good time to think about cleaning up paperwork, reviewing financial goals, and filing. If you’re in the same boat? I’d love to share a FREE resource that’s been just awesome! It’s Credit Sesame and it allows you to monitor your credit report (including the SCORE) for free. There are some services out there that say they’ll do that for you, but at some point you realize it’s a 30-day offer and BAM! you now have to pay a monthly fee to keep the service. Remember you can also order your entire credit reports for free once a year at annualcreditreport.com. However, these reports will NOT display your score unless you pay a fee.
I found Credit Sesame to be really helpful when we made the decision to refinance our house last year. It’s also a good way to monitor your score if you are cleaning up your credit, or about to apply for a loan. If you sign up right now, you’ll be automatically entered to win $250 cash, too!
A few other things about Credit Sesame, if you’re wondering:
- It’s secure. Credit Sesame uses bank-level security practices for safeguarding the information you share online.
- Free tracking & alerts. Credit Sesame will automatically track and update your credit score every month. You can also opt to be notified of any changes.
- Free tools. While I primarily use Credit Sesame for the credit score feature, there are lots of other tools you can take advantage of on the site such as financial goal-setting tools, home value estimators, plus notifications of better loan/credit card offers should they come up.
To get started, just head on over to Credit Sesame.
PS I just logged into my account and guess what? My score has gone up 12 points in the last month! Yahoo! 🙂
