I was in need of some grocery shopping, so I decided to head to Trader Joe’s today. Like Costco, I tend to cap my Trader Joe’s trips to once a month, because I notice I spend more money when I visit. I enjoy shopping at Trader Joe’s primarily for two reasons. First, they have foods there I can’t get anywhere else! Second, I can get through the entire store in about 30 minutes tops, which is a nice way to reduce the time spent grocery shopping.
For fun, I thought I’d share some of the delicious things I spotted (and in some cases, purchased) today.
Bacon Cheddar Ranch Dip for $2.99. I also found a Caramelized Onion Dip and a couple additional savory dips.
WOW! I was so excited to find these Indian-inspired items. Matar Paneer, Chana Masala, and Dal Makhani – all for $1.99 each. In case you don’t know this about me, Indian food’s my favorite. I picked up a can of the Matar Paneer and Chana Masala. I sure hope these are good.
My pal Jamie recommended this salad to me and it’s my absolute FAVORITE now. SO GOOD! I usually pick up a couple when I visit (not much more than that though, since they usually have a quick expiration date on them. It’s Field Fresh Chopped Salad with Grilled White Chicken. It has currants, couscous, and a killer basil dressing. It’s what’s for lunch today, too.
I purchased this Asian Vegetable Stir-Fry the last time I was in the store and loved it! Sure, I could probably make my own, but sometimes it’s nice to just pay for the convenience. Included are a nice assortment of big veggies – broccoli, baby corn, red onion, mushrooms, peppers, and more.
I’m intrigued by these Peeled & Cooked Chestnuts. If you’ve followed my blog for several years, you might recall my unfortunate incident of trying to roast my own chestnuts. (Spoiler: it did not go well.) This is another instance where I’d totally spend the $3.99 over hassling roasting my own.
I’ve seen a few people talk about Riced Cauliflower for awhile now, so I decided to give it a go. I’m thinking of mixing it with the stir-fry veggies above and serving with chicken. What other tips or ideas do you have for me? How do you cook it?
I nearly bought this salad today – it looks so good! It’s a Turkey Harvest Salad Palette and includes squash, turkey, cranberries, roasted Brussels sprouts, and spinach. Have you tried it?
I have written about these before, but they’re worth mentioning again! These Cara Cara Oranges are insanely good. My absolute favorite oranges! They are pink inside and so sweet. They only come around for a limited time each year, so I recommend you pick some up stat.
I was super intrigued by this Spatchcooked Lemon Rosemary Chicken. It’s a full chicken, butterflied, and marinated in herbs and lemon. I totally bought one and will cook it for dinner tonight.
Organic Beets for $1.49. I know that the greens are good for you, but I often just eat the root part. So, I appreciate how compact and prepped these are and won’t feel bad about wasting the greens!
Roasted Brussels Sprouts for $2.99. A nice option if you can no longer find fresh Brussels sprouts at your local grocery store.
I thought this quartet of Greek Olives was really pretty!
I picked up one of these Bonsai Melons for $1.49 because I really dig trying different produce!
I don’t know how I feel about this Bacon Jam and Roasted Garlic & Onion Jam. I suppose these would be better on a burger than a classic PB&J. Other thoughts?
When’s the last time you’ve been at Trader Joe’s? Have you tried any of the items I highlighted in my post today? Spotted something else recently you’d like to share? Leave a comment below!
