In the last few months I’ve taken the time to go to my local Dollar Tree locations. Just like any store that sells a little bit of everything, you have to be in the right frame of mind to go searching down pretty much every aisle in hopes of discovering that great deal. I think far too often this store gets over looked for some great gifts, party favors, or things to pack to keep your kids busy during a road trip or plane ride.
Roughly a quarter of my local store is devoted to Easter and Spring items right now. Items range from baskets, plastic eggs, candy, gardening supplies, and basket filler.
Puzzles were everywhere!
50 pc Puzzles – Ninja Turles, Little Mermaid, Toy Story
24 pc – 48 pc Puzzles – Winnie the Pooh, Doc McStuffins, Potato Head, My Little Pony, Sophia the First, etc.
12 pc Fisher Price Little People Puzzle *One of my favorite finds!*
Sticker packs are well hidden in the kids “educational” area.
Lisa Frank, Eric Carle, Sesame Street, Sophia the First, and Cars Stickers (each pack comes with four sheets)
Preparing for vacation?
Kites, Frisbees, and jumping ropes for $1 ease the concern if these get lost or damaged during an outing.
Jake and the Neverland Pirate Maracas, Disney Princess Night-Lights, Cars Activity Kit, and Dress-Up Jewelry.
Another favorite find was Doc McStuffins and Jake and the Neverland Pirates Painting Sets.
The other item pictured is a Transformers Cardboard Model to be colored and then assembled.
I got on my hands and knees to go through the book area. I’m glad I did because I found these Sesame Street books that have a CD inside each one with different songs that relate to the book. So four books and CDs for $4!
What kid doesn’t love ‘cool’ band-aids? Barbie and Marvel Heroes Adhesive Bandages for $1. Disney socks were also for $1 (same price and similar selection to Target.) The hair accessory area was a nice surprise. I stocked up on hairbands since my daughter seems to pull them out and make them disappear every day (she’s going to be the next David Copperfield).
Bubbles are another summer favorite, especially when the wand is shaped like Spider-man or a character from Madagascar.
I encourage you to stop at your nearest Dollar Tree to be oohed and awed over their selection, I’m sure it will save you money and make you a repeat shopper. A lot of these products are being sold at Target and Toys R Us for a lot more. Invest the ten minutes to discover Dollar Tree.
