A few years ago, the kids and I were so disappointed that we couldn’t figure out how to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. We’d just cut cable and couldn’t figure it out. We vowed that never again would we be without our beloved Thanksgiving Parade tradition. If you’re finding this post, perhaps you’re in the same boat and are looking for some options for how and where to watch the parade!
Watch the Parade on NBC
First, if you do have TV, you’ll want to tune into NBC – this is the only channel you’ll be able to watch it from. This will work if you have cable (obviously) or even rabbit ears.
Watch the Livestream on YouTube
Thanks to Verizon 360, you will be able to live stream the Parade on YouTube! The video below will be live starting November 22nd at 5:30 am.
If for any reason the live stream does not work for you, you can try heading to the Macy’s Parade Studio website and try to watch it there. What you should know: the live stream isn’t the same thing that you’ll see on TV. However, it will be a cool, immersive live stream using Verizon’s 360° cameras on various places throughout the parade route. To get the most of the 360° experience, you’ll want to view the parade from the YouTube app in your mobile device.
Start a YouTube TV Subscription
If you want the actual show that will air on NBC but do not have cable, there is one additional route you could consider taking. NBC is one of the channels offered by YouTube TV. The service is $40 per month, BUT they do have a free trial membership available. We have actually been YouTube TV members for several months now and love it. You join in a matter of minutes and if you decide to cancel at any time, there’s no awkward phone call to make to a rep. Just log onto your account and hit “cancel.”
This would be a quick and easy option worth considering if you’d like to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade!
While you’re at it – make sure to check out the Black Friday Sale happening at Macy’s!
I’d love to hear if you have other ideas or suggestions for how to watch the parade for free this year, particularly if you do not have cable. Please leave a comment below!
