I needed to get to Costco last Friday, so I figured why not? I’ll tackle my popular feature Stuff I didn’t know I needed…until I went to Costco post a bit earlier than normal this month. In case you’re unaware, this is a post I publish once monthly here at the blog and I simply highlight a number of things I find at the store during a trip. These items could be deals, but often they’re items that for whatever reason strike my fancy.
In no particular order, here are the items that stood out to me during Friday’s trip.
Apple Fruit Sticks for $6.99. This seemed like a good price to me considering there were 20 packs included (works out to $0.35 per bag!). I ended up picking them up for kids’ school lunches and sports snacks.
Band-Aids for $8.99 after instant rebate. Note however, that this price was only good through 4/15! Even so, I think $11.99 would be worth considering. You’re getting a total of 188 items all in a case. This would be handy to keep in your car or home, or with your kids’ team sports equipment.
Basketball hoop for $299.99.
I was really tempted to pick up another one of these outdoor mats! We bought one last year, and it was one of my 10 favorite Costco purchases. These blankets are great for picnics or taking to the beach. We used it frequently last summer on grass and turf during my son’s soccer games. I like how nice and flat it lays and how simple it is to clean up. It also folds up and has a shoulder strap!
These crepes were $3.99. They are rolled up and individually wrapped and had some sort of hazelnut or chocolate filling. I was tempted, but didn’t end up buying during this visit. I’d love to know your thoughts if you’ve tried them!
I actually had a hairdryer die on me last week and needed to pick up another. I didn’t even know if was possible to purchase a $99.99 hairdryer! I am ashamed to admit I totally did consider it for a few minutes, but in the end picked up the $19.99 version that was on the shelves next to it.
I thought this was a pretty cool looking floor lamp! I want to say it was right around $50.
Fruit trees in pots for $39.99. I know it’s kind of hard to tell, but my store had plumcot (a plum-apricot hybrid), peache, pear, and apricot.
Set of 3 Speedo goggles for $14.99. They sold them in both adult and junior sizes and I think this is a particularly good value! We were headed out of town last weekend and the hotel had a pool, so I opted to buy my kids a new set of the junior ones. They LOVED them! My son gravitated to the larger pair on top and my daughter liked the kind that was easy to adjust. Good deal!
Marion Blackberry fruit spread, 2 pack for $6.99 (works out to $3.49 apiece). These jars are 28 ounces in size, so I think this is actually a really good deal!
Costco was selling these women’s basic jean jackets for $19.99! Wow – great deal!
Brother Label Maker for $27.99. It includes a couple things of label tape.
Girls’ active leggings for just $9.99. Unfortunately, they were out of the small size at my store, otherwise I would’ve picked up a pair or two for my daughter. These would be good for kids in running or other outdoor sports!
What kinds of things do you think you could catch with this net?
Organic Perfect Bar, 12 ct for $19.99 (works out to $1.67 per bar). If you’re interested in this item, look for them in the refrigerated section, where they sell meats and cheeses. Flavors include peanut butter, cranberry crunch, and almond butter. They are gluten free and soy free. I’d love to try them!
Stand-up paddleboard for $299.99!
Here’s a 2-pack of quiche for $16.99. One is spinach & artichoke flavor and the other is cheddar & broccoli. These were also being sold in the refrigerated section.
My store was selling a variety of area rugs for $129.99.
Jumbo car shade for $9.99.
Girls’ swimwear for $12.99. I ended up picking up one for my daughter, because she loved the one I bought her here last year. My only complaint: I sure wish Costco would’ve had swimwear for boys! I also needed some trunks for my son and ended up having to go to another store.
This seems like a good price: just $16.59 for 15-ct pork tamales. That works out to just $1.11 per tamale!
Really nice, healthy looking blueberry bushes for just $14.99.
Lodge Cast Iron reversible griddle/grill set for $34.99.
This intrigued me: it’s a large bucket of dried gourmet mix mushrooms for $12.99. I found it towards the back of the produce department, where they sell dried fruit. There were instructions on the container for how to re-hydrate. Could you use these in place of fresh mushrooms in recipes? How else could you use them? Thoughts?
5 piece mixing bowl with lid set for $19.99.
This salad kit (found in the produce refrigerated section) looked SO good! It’s $5.99 and has all kinds of veggies to make a Mediterranean chopped salad. I think it would be wonderful paired with a Costco roast chicken! Yum!
My Costco store was having a sale on towels during my visit.
I ended up spending about $56 including tax on this visit. I purchased a swimsuit for my daughter, a set of googles, the apple sticks, and the less expensive hairdryer. With the exception of the apple sticks, all those items were actually on my list! I think that’s not too bad.
Speaking of Costco, have you had a chance to check out my post of my 10 favorite items from Costco in 2017? Take a look if you missed it! If you enjoy this series, you can see what I’ve found on previous Costco trips at my Costco page.
