Now that spring is here, you might be thinking about picking up farm-fresh produce at the local Farmer’s Market! I wanted to give you an early heads up about all the Tacoma Farmer’s Markets opening dates and schedule for 2019.
Broadway Farmer’s Market
Location: 9th & Broadway, Downtown Tacoma
Opening Date: Thursday, May 2nd
2019 Season Dates: Thursdays, May 2nd – Aug 29th 10am – 3pm & Thursdays, Sept 2nd – Oct 31st 10am – 2pm
Point Ruston Farmer’s Market
Location: The Grand Plaza, Point Ruston 5005 Ruston Way
Opening Date: Sunday, June 2nd
2019 Season Dates: Sundays, June 2nd – Sept 29th 10am – 3pm
Eastside Tacoma Market
Location: 3500 McKinley Ave. E, Tacoma
Opening Date: Tuesday, June 4th
2019 Season Dates: Tuesdays, June 4th – Aug 27th 3pm – 7pm
Tacoma General Rose Garden Farmer’s Market
Location: 315 MLK Jr. Way, Tacoma
Opening Date: Friday, August 2nd
2019 Season Dates: Fridays, Aug 2nd – Aug 30th, 11am – 2pm
Here are a few important resources available about our Tacoma Farmer’s Markets!
- EBT/SNAP benefits can be used at any of the Tacoma Farmer’s Markets. Take your EBT/SNAP card to the information booth and you’ll receive wooden tokens which can be redeemed at vendor tables to purchase fresh produce, dairy, bakery items, meat, pickles, and more.
- EBT/SNAP cardholders can additionally benefit from a Fresh Bucks match program where you can receive $1 credit for each $1 you spend, up to $10. (See the programs & services page for more information.)
- Kids ages 3-16 can receive $1 credit towards the purchase of a piece of fruit or a vegetable through the Apple-A-Day program. Just head to the market information booth for the token. (See the programs & services page for more information.)
- WIC & Senior Farmers Nutrition Program checks can be used to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at farmers markets. The Senior Farmers Nutrition Program provides $5-10 per week for seniors who qualify. (See the programs & services page for more information.)
