I’m all about finding FREE activities that get you outside with your family! Did you know that Tacoma offers two FREE beach programs throughout the summer? Here are the details:
Tiptoe through the Tidepools at Titlow Beach
In this program, Tacoma Nature Center naturalists help participants learn about life on the beach. Touch tanks will be present for some real hands-on action! Dates and times:
- June 16th, 12 – 3 pm
- July 13th, 11 am – 2 pm
- August 12th, 11 am – 2 pm
Explore the Shore at Owen Beach
This program is intended for children ages 5 and up along with adults. This is a walk along the beach during low tide in which participants will learn to identify tide pool animals and record their presence and location for scientific research. Dates and times:
- June 15th, 12 pm
- June 28th, 11 am
- July 12th, 10:15 am
- July 27th, 10:15 am
- August 10th, 10 am
Again, these programs are FREE and open to the public; reservations are not required. Bring sunscreen and wear appropriate shoes and clothing for walking on rough beach terrain.
