Hello! If you’re finding this post in November of 2017, you should note that you’ve stumbled on a post from 2012. Have no fear – let me just direct you to our 2017 WinCo Turkey and Thanksgiving Specials as well as this report of deals we spotted at our store mid-November.
2012 WinCo Turkey Prices and Thanksgiving Specials
WinCo is a good store to watch around Thanksgiving time for great deals on turkey and Thanksgiving basics. Yet again, they are offering to match competitors’ prices on select items.
Some of you have asked about turkey deals at WinCo. Here’s the scoop (directly from WinCo when I asked): “our stores guarantee to beat all grocery chains’ advertised food prices on frozen USDA Grade A turkeys as long as the customer purchases at least $50.”
In case you’re unaware how WinCo works, they’ll be watching their competitors’ pricing and working to adjust their prices (if necessary) to ensure they’re beating them on turkeys and select other items. Should you find a lower advertised price, bring the ad to customer service. But know that the store will be keeping an eye on local prices daily until Thanksgiving night. Note that some promotions may be excluded such as BOGO turkey sales, mix & match type sales, turkey free with purchase, etc.
Otherwise, Tthe following items will be beaten by WinCo in terms of price (just bring your ad if you find a lower one):
- USDA Grade A Frozen Turkey
- Dozen Large Eggs
- Libby Canned Pumpkin
- Ocean Spray Cranberry Sauce
- Kraft Philadelphia Cream Cheese Block
- Lindsay Large Pitted Olives
- Whipping Cream
- Private Label Brown & Powdered Sugar
- Sara Lee Frozen Pumpkin Pies
- Cool Whip Topping
- US No 1 Fresh Yams
- Fresh Celery
- Martinelli’s Sparkling Cider
If you’re planning a trip? Check out these great WinCo deals spotted last week!
PS WinCo is running a contest that’s pretty awesome: come up with a recipe using their bulk foods and someone will win $100! Check out the details on their Facebook page.
They will “beat” the price by how much?
That is a good question, so I decided to pose it to my contact at WinCo. Here’s what he had to say:
“This will be store dependent, but our guideline is to be fair to customers and not do something like simply beat the competition by a penny.” He then gave me an example of one of their stores that is besting the turkey price per pound by about $0.10/lb. So, expect a decent margin?
I brought in ads last year from other stores… I believe it was on cream cheese and I did it on Pet Ritz Pie Crust, which was great since I use it in my peach cobblers, I also had a manufacturer coupon I used as well. Unfortunately I don’t see that item listed this year. Thanks for the posting!
My store last year was clueless about the promo even though the sign was posted and just matched the prices.
Just got back from WinCo in Tacoma – Hosmer St.
They have Jennie O turkeys free with $140 purchase and .38/# with $50 purchase. They are all about 14 – 16 # birds.
