If you’ve got a baby (or one on the way) you already know how expensive diapers can be. A planned budget can help with diapers and other baby costs.

However, there are also ways you can get free diapers. In this article, we’ll share options you have to help you potentially get free diapers and cut down on child-rearing expenses in the process.

How to Get Free Diapers

There are many options to help you get free diapers. Note that not all of them may work for you. Try each option and keep using the ones that give you the most benefit.

1. Ask Your Family Doctor

Diaper supply companies often drop off diaper samples at local family doctor and pediatrician clinics.

The suppliers’ goal is to reach as many potential new clients as possible. So check with your family doctor or your baby’s pediatrician and see if they’ve got diaper samples available.

One of the nice things about getting diaper samples from your doctor is that you might be able to try out brands you haven’t heard of before.

For instance, you may be able to sample brands of all-natural diapers or organic diapers. Or maybe you’ll be able to try out some less expensive brands to save you even more money when you’re purchasing diapers.

Note that available diaper samples will vary throughout the year depending on each supplier’s sales rep schedule.

For that reason, it doesn’t hurt to ask for free samples every time you visit your doctor or pediatrician.

Hint: You can often get free baby formula samples at your doctor or pediatrician’s office as well. If you’re interested in saving money on formula, you may want to ask about formula samples too.

2. Ask at the Hospital

Just like at the doctor’s office, diaper suppliers will drop off samples of diapers at local hospital birthing centers.

And because birthing centers handle a much larger client load, the diaper sample selection may be more abundant if you’re giving birth at a time when a supplier rep has visited recently.

If you’ve already got a diaper brand that you like to use, go ahead and ask your nurse if they have a sample of that specific brand.

If you don’t have a brand you like to use–or if you’re open to trying different brands, ask your nurse for whatever brand of samples they have to give away.

After all, a free diaper is a free diaper!!  And you may just find in your sample testing that there is another diaper brand you like better than what you usually use.

3. Sign Up with Swagbucks

Swagbucks can help you get free diapers in a couple of different ways. First, you can check the Swagbucks website for coupons, deals, and discounts on diapers.

Second, you can use Swagbucks to do fun activities to get free gift cards, and then use the free gift cards to get diapers for your baby.

When you sign up for Swagbucks (it’s free to sign up), you’ll earn points for doing fun things online that you’re probably already doing anyway.

Put diapers on top of your registry list so that you can stock up on free diapers while helping your loved ones pick out the perfect gift at the same time.

Some churches have programs where they help parents in need by offering free supplies or a monetary gift you can use to purchase diapers.

All churches that offer these types of services have differing rules for their programs. For that reason, you’ll want to check and see what each church’s rules are.

Call churches directly, or search their website for a “help” or “community” section. Each church differs in how they share information on helping their community, you may have to browse a bit before you find what you need.

But one thing to keep in mind is that churches that offer free diapers aren’t usually doing so continually.

Local food shelves are well known for having baby supplies such as diapers. Note that every food shelf operates differently.

They have different hours of operation as well as different rules about who can utilize their services. For instance, some food shelves only serve residents of the city or county they’re located in.

Some food shelves have volunteer requirements too or ask that you pay a small stipend.

Also, food shelves have different products at different times. What this means for you is that just because they don’t have diapers on one visit doesn’t mean they won’t have them on your next visit.

For that reason, it’s important to visit food shelves near you often. See each food shelf’s website for more information on how they work, hours of operation, and other details.

12. Sign Up with Product Testing Companies

Product testing companies can be amazing places to get free diapers because they will often send you diaper packs to try for two weeks or longer.

Here’s how it can work. A diaper company produces a new type of diaper or wants to improve an existing type.

They need parents of babies and toddlers who wear diapers to wear the new or improved product to test it out in real, everyday circumstances.

The results of the usage are reported to the diaper manufacturers who then take the feedback and either modify the product or get it ready for store shelves.

And you, as a product testing associate, get free diapers. What’s more, you get the chance to try different types of diapers so you can find the ones that are best for you.
