10 Places To Get Glasses Adjusted For Free

Did you know that my very first childhood memory was visiting the eye doctor to get glasses? Yeah, because before that… life was just a blur.

I got glasses, however, with this comes the added frustration of constantly needing to get my glasses adjusted and realigned so they fit well.

However, getting them adjusted is not that bad if you know where to do it… and where to do it for free! That’s the best part!

Where to Get Glasses Adjusted for Free

So make sure to check out these awesome ideas and locations where you can get your glasses adjusted for free.

As always, it is a good idea to call the physical location or check their specific website online to confirm that they offer this service and inquire about their specific policies and requirements prior to heading in.

1. Your Community Optometrist or Optician

You can’t beat the individualized service received by being a patron of a community optometrist. There is something very wonderful about supporting a local small business. You are a name, not just a number.

One of the wonderful perks of this relationship is that you can stop in for a quick adjustment on your glasses if they even get out of whack.

Of course, you should always call to make sure they are available. But since you already have a relationship with your optometrist, it is never a bother to have them adjust my glasses really quickly.

2. LensCrafters

Taken directly from the LensCrafters website, their personalized aftercare policy states:

“Whenever you need an adjustment or cleaning, stop in at any one of our stores and say hello. It doesn’t matter whether you bought your glasses online or at a different LensCrafters location, we’re here to help with all of your vision needs.”

The fitting and adjustments are absolutely free for the lifetime of your glasses.

What makes LensCrafters a convenient option is that they operate over one thousand locations across the country. So there is a great chance that there will be a LensCrafters store close by you.

LensCrafters also offers much more than just adjustments for your glasses. They also offer personalized eye exams and a wide variety of purchasing options for eyeglasses, sunglasses, contact lenses, and so much more.

Plus, they accept most insurance both online and in-store. Be sure to check with your local LensCrafters to make sure your insurance is accepted before going in!

3. Costco’s Optical Department

Did you know that most, if not all, Costco warehouses have optical departments?

And although Costco is a members-only establishment, you do not need a membership in order to make an appointment with the in-house optometrist at the Costco Optical

You will, however, need a membership to purchase glasses or contacts.

So you have a couple of options to play with here. If you do have a membership, you can head in wherever and simply request they do an adjustment to your glasses.

Although there is no specific guarantee or published policy that states they will adjust your glasses for free, there are plenty of anecdotal testimonies of people who went to Costco to receive minor adjustments to their glasses at no charge.

Obviously, any larger repairs will cost you a small fee.

If you do not have a Costco membership, then you will first need to make an appointment with the optical department in order to gain access to the warehouse.

Once you make your appointment, then you can request an adjustment with them.

And just like other eyeglasses retailers, Costco Warehouses accept most vision insurance plans.

They “also carry a wide range of contact lenses, brand-name designer frames and sunglasses and offer the latest technology in high-definition lenses.”

So, if you are going to consider them for free eyeglass adjustment, then you can consider them for all your eyeglass needs as well.

4. Warby Parker

You may not have heard of Warby Parker, to which I would say: you are sorely missing out!

Warby Parker is a majority-online eyeglasses retailer that “was started to create an alternative” in the highly priced industry. They aim to provide “higher-quality, better looking prescription eyewear at a fraction of the going price.”

One of the unique features of Warby Parker is that they allow you to try on 5 pairs of frames at home, completely for free – including the shipping!

They also have a very cool feature that allows you to try on the glasses virtually! It’s easy to use and so convenient to help you narrow down which 5 pairs of frames you want to try on at home.

If you purchased your glasses through Warby Parker, then you can easily stop into one of their retail locations for a quick adjustment.

If there is no Warby Parker location nearby, then you can stop into any local optical shop for an adjustment.

Per Warby Parker’s online policy, if you are charged for this service, simply upload a picture of your receipt within 30 days of your adjustment and they will reimburse you up to fifty dollars.

5. Pearle Vision

Pearle Vision is an excellent location for all your eyewear needs. They strive to go above and beyond to show how much they care with clear answers and personal attention.

As part of that commitment, Pearle Vision will have your glasses professionally adjusted and cleaned free of charge, for as long as you own your eyeglasses.

At present day, Pearle Vision operates over 400 locally-owned locations with best-in-class doctors, unmatched commitment to care, and a premiere assortment of frames and lenses.

They also accept most vision insurances with on-site prescription eyeglass fulfillment wherever possible.

Additionally, they pride themselves on having the biggest selection of designer frames in town!

6. Sunglass Hut

Sunglass Hut wants to help you keep your sunglasses in top condition by using their complimentary in-store cleaning and adjustment services.

With over fifteen hundred locations across the United States, you are sure to find one close by you. Call the store beforehand, because it is unclear if they will extend this service to your regular prescription glasses.

However, if you are going there for servicing on your sunglasses, they might be courteous enough to extend it to your regular eyewear too.

7. America’s Best

America’s Best customers will enjoy free in-store adjustments on their eyeglasses across over 900 locations in the US.

It is a simple perk extended to their clientele to get them to use their services of glasses, contact lenses and eye exams.

America’s Best seeks to combine both parts of the optical equation – eyewear and eye care – into one great, and low-cost experience. This is precisely why you can enjoy free adjustments across their locations.

8. VisionWorks

VisionWorks is another great location to obtain free eyewear care, including adjustments and cleanings.

Their stated mission is to simplify eye care with devotion to healthy eyes and passion for healthy vision.

They pride themselves on convenience and on their 100-day guarantee regarding purchased eyewear through VisionWorks. Certainly, this will include any free adjustments you might need.

9. Warranty/Insurance Policies

Another option is to check with your Insurance Policy or any Warranties you may have. Oftentimes, if you order your glasses through your insurance, it comes with an added warranty.

That warranty may allow you to take it into a designated location for free adjustments and cleanings.

It is definitely worth a try because insurance policies usually have connections with glassware companies.

10. DIY

The last option isn’t necessarily free, but it’s a one time investment for a long time of free adjustments at home.

A DIY kit is very reasonably priced on the big online retailers. Purchase one of those, watch a YouTube DIY video on glasses adjustments and give it a try. It really isn’t hard!

And that one-time investment will allow you to keep using the kit for months and even years!

This is an easy way to do free adjustments at home whenever you need them, with the convenience of not needing to go anywhere or wait for an appointment.

Summary

Adjustments for glasses are easy to get at many locations- and surprisingly for free as well!

It’s not a difficult process to take them in and get the adjustment done so a lot of opticals offer that for free as an incentive to get you in the store and maybe eventually you’ll become a patient in the future.

If you didn’t know where to get that service done at no charge, we are confident you will find a few options within this post.
