How to Trade in Your Old Amazon Devices (Kindle, Fire) for Amazon Credit

I’m in the process of cleaning out my office – a monumental task that I’ve been putting off for years.

One of the reasons I’ve put it off is because our office is one of those “dumping ground” areas in our home where everything and anything goes that we don’t know what to do with.

After a couple of weeks, I’m proud to say I’m nearly done and can see the floor again!

Today, I thought I’d share about how I dealt with a small pile of old Amazon Kindle readers and Fire tablets I had. They were broken and out of use, but what to do with them?

It didn’t feel right to just throw them away and I also didn’t want to wait until the next recycling event in my area.

how it works

What I ended up doing: trading them in for instant Amazon credit! This process was so quick and easy, and I thought it might help someone else out there who’s knee-deep in cleaning and purging.

Trading in your Amazon Device, Step-by-Step

First, gather your devices.

model number of amazon device

Locate the model number. This is usually found on the back of the device and may be in small print.

Next, head to the Amazon trade-in center. There are many eligible devices you can trade in including Kindle e-readers, streaming devices, tablets, Bluetooth speakers & echo. You can trade in Amazon devices purchased from Amazon or even another retailer!

Locate the device and model you are looking to trade in. From there, answer a few questions about your device. In my case, I had a couple of devices that were no longer working. I was just going to throw them out. But I was offered a $5 Amazon credit per device. DEAL!

Next, confirm the trade-in and you’ll be able to print out a shipping label to send it to Amazon for free.

Just print this out and make sure to drop it off to your local UPS store for shipping.

Here’s the best part: I had the credit instantly. Your results on this may vary, but it was definitely a cool perk! For a limited time only, you’ll also receive a 25% off discount off a new Amazon device (if you’re looking to replace it).
